Discussion: NC Board Delays Finalizing House Race Result While Investigating Possible Fraud

Hello, this is interesting. This race is wide open. Republicans don’t blow the whistle on themselves unless something truly indefensible has happened.

This seat was a tossup in 538’s House forecast, so it was expected to be close. I doubt the election board will call for a new election but it will be interesting to see what happened.

Fraud would suggest GOP hijinks…

Right, they accuse the Dems of election fraud because they will do that if they are given the chance. The Repugs assume everyone is as scummy and crooked as they are in every situation.

Wow, this is surprising. McCready’s my rep. Met him at a few Sunday meetings. It was a toss up but Harris is a complete evangelical nut. McCready kinda boring but perfect resume from soldier, religious family, to successful small business solar energy entrepreneur.

Republicans would normally bury this story here in NC as they run, except for the governorship, everything that happens in NC.

This is very interesting. Note the Democrat has been a class act throughout. If a Republican had closed as much Fox News would be covering the daily riot by the the bused in Federalist Society activists wearing $1500 suits.

The elections board isn’t going to do something like this with the republican ahead unless they think that their investigation could change the outcome of the election. (And unless they think they might have legal exposure if they certify now.)

McCready conceded the race the day after Election Day, when unofficial totals had Harris ahead by less than 1,900 votes. He didn’t change his mind later this month when additional absentee and provisional ballots counted cut the margin in half.

And if the investigation/votes go his way can he unconcede?

I still have a hard time understanding how any fraud, unless it is truly massive, could bridge 900 votes in a single congressional district. But, yes, McCready could un-concede. I recall reading an article shortly after the recent election that “conceding” is more a political statement than anything. There’s nothing official or legal about conceding. It’s a courtesy more than anything, and possibly a chance for the loser to display a political stance … losing with grace vs losing in defiance, etc.

Malcolm is a Democrat. The board is not controlled by Republicans. Our governor is a Democrat.

Unless McCready wins he is not your rep, right now it is Pittenger. Also, democrats have to stop ceding races so soon, what with all the republic party shenanigans.

Amen to that. And fight for recounts, I say. GOP candidates don’t concede, so why should we?
