Halperin can call President Obama a dick in Morning Joe, yet know of his own history of inappropriate behavior toward women, while protecting Trump for similar accusations. Of course, he expects his power, gender, and white privilege to protect him. Guess he got this wrong too. It will be interesting to watch what MSNBC will do. Will they bring him back quickly like they did after the Obama remark? After all, denigrating a Black President is not a big deal at NBC, while protecting a White serial sexual assaulting, mendacious narcissist Republican President, is SOP the corporate giant. Or will they give him the Kieth Oberman, Martin Bashir, and Melissa Harris-Perry treatment? Stay Tuned, the answer will come soon, when Halperin returns to his friends the “I know my place” Mika, and her paramour Joe S. clearly the biggest “dick” (to paraphrase Mark H) on the show.

There was, however, a second shock device sitting on the table before the Teacher which had a single large red button on it, and the ominous label: “Danger: Very Severe Shock. Do not push this button unless you are instructed to do so.” When the learning trials had ended the Experimenter told the Teacher to push this button because he thought the Learner had not tried hard enough during the memory test. It was a punishment, pure and simple, a very severe one, and it had nothing to do with the data being collected because the data had all been collected.
In my four studies (two of which used people recruited through newspaper ads, and the other two introductory psychology students) 89%, 86%, 88% and 91% of the subjects pushed the button that said it would deliver a dangerous shock. It took these compliant subjects, on the average, about four seconds to do so. Teachers typically asked, “You mean this one?” before proceeding, but once that was verified they pushed “Big Red.” The few subjects who refused usually thought they were going to get the shock if they did so. (Nothing happened when the dangerous button was pushed; the Experimenter “discovered” a high voltage connection had come loose.) In this study the subjects had about twenty minutes to anticipate what they would do if they were told to give a dangerous, very severe shock, and still most of them did so almost immediately. The possibility of saying “no” seems not to have occurred to them.
