Discussion for article #230771
Actually, 17 witnesses said that Brownâs hands were up, while only 3 agreed with Wilson that his hands were, something other than up. Whatever that means.
The truth doesnât matter in the Brown case. The public relations/media folks have created their own narrative and their narrative has been embraced by white people across the country. According to that narrative Brown was a âthugâ and Wilson did Ferguson a favor by killing him.
As an Christian, an American and mostly as a father who raised three teenage boys I am personally offended by the narrative and all those in the media who push it.
âOr have you not read the grand jury transcript?â
I guarantee he hasnât. He had some shitbum intern abstract it for him and pull out the bits he wanted to use as soundbites and ignore all the rest.
Thank you for standing up, Lisa Bloom! Well done!
âThe fact is there is no credible evidence that remotely supports the absurd claim that ever happened,â he added."
And there is no credible evidence that it did not.
The evidence that it was the case was not outweighed by the evidence to the contrary. The two closest witnessâŚBrownâs friend and Wilson made different claims. Wilson said he did not have his hands in the air but I doubt it would matter if Brown did or did notâŚWilson would be confessing to murder if he said he shot a kid with his hands in the air. Brownâs friend, standing a few feet away during the incident said his hands were up as did more than a dozen other people.
I believe it was witness 30 that gave the most damning statement against Brownâs hands being up. He said Brownâs hands were not up while saying he was at least two blocks away from the incident.
The point: Joe has no idea whether that kid had his hands up or not. He wants to believe the kid didnât because that fits his authoritarian race driven perspective.
Scarborough is a master, along with OâReilly, Hannity and Limbaugh, of invoking a straw man argument. In his Monday rant he repeatedly said people were holding Brown up as some sort of hero, then arguing against that. Bloomâs the first to call him out on that. Good for her.
Taking Wilsonâs testimony as 100% truth is flawed and she called him out on that as well.
Lisa Bloom had better start watching her back I wouldnât be too surprised if Joe went running to his bosses, demanding she be fired.
Excellent work from Lisa Bloom. Her facts are inarguable and her tone is expertly instructive. Canât wait to hear JoeScarâs response, but I imagine Iâll be waiting a very long time.
Say goodbye, Joe. No one cares what you think. Never did, never will.
Wait till you hear what she just said about Eric Gardner, whose death was ruled a homicide by the NY coroner, and NYPD regulations say a choke-hold is against department rules, and whose grand jury in Staten Island just returned a âno indictmentâ in this case as well by a feckless prosecutor. The death of a black man at the hands of white police officers are never, NEVER prosecuted according to Lisa Bloom. I concur, and so will anyone with any genuine sense of justice, moral indignation, and common sense.
Fuck these racist cops and their protectors.
What everyone at Fox knows (and Scarborough too) and the RNC knows and the St Louis police know is that this is the moment when the mythos surrounding the event is created. They have to push back against everything that contradicts the GJâs decision because thatâs all they have really. Bloom is right to say that no indictment means very little legally - that itâs even more ambiguous than before. But Roger Ailes is at his best when controlling the message and in keeping his messengers in line. After a certain point, if heâs done his job, his message will win and the mythos will become fact and the republic restored to its righteous and just place in heaven.
But I sense a stronger more determined opposition this time around. Time will tell which story prevails.

With one caveat.
Does the DOJ indict?
That will toss a spanner in Ailesâ clockwork.

I agree with your comment. Reactionaries are not content to win the day. They feel absolutely compelled to lock down the narrative for a number of reasons. Iâll spare the comments section my armchair psychology about it, but just take a look at the NY Times story today about Japanese right wingers âforcingâ a relatively liberal newspaper to retract war crimes stories because nationalism. Fascists donât fuck around.
Note to NBC programming heads:
Time to replace âMorning Joeâ with âThe Bloom of Truth.â
P.S. Mika can still co-host.
Not hardly, because blah President.
I havenât read the transcript, so rub it in my face and call me Joe Scarborough if I am talking crap because of that failure.
Iâve seen a lot made by Wilson supporters of the autopsies showing that no bullets struck Wilson from behind and that some of the wounds, including the likely fatal wound to the head, are not consistent with a shot to a person standing with hands raised overhead. The supporters generally extend the meaning of those findings to conclude that the witnesses who claim Brown was shot in the back or shot while his hands were up are all lying/mistaken and therefore can offer no credible testimony.
These supporters overlook that fact that what matters is whether or not Wilson tried to shoot Brown from behind or while Brownâs hands were up. The accuracy of the shots Wilson fired is not relevant when trying to determine if Wilsonâs behavior was lawful.
It would be far easier for a witness to tell if Wilson fired the gun when Brown had his back to Wilson than to tell if such a shot actually hit Brown. Wilson has stated that he doesnât really know how many shots he fired, but there clearly were 4-5 shots that missed Brown and the car door. The crime lab report noted that 12 fired casings were recovered and that Wilsonâs gun had a 12-round magazine. I donât know if the transcript indicates whether or not Wilson fired more than 12 rounds.
Ole Joe, just a poor country lawyer. And a bad one at thatâŚ
