Thereâs some tension within the Democratic Party over whether such a move would politicize the topic, rather than address sexual misconduct
Whether???
I donât understand why the Dems wouldnât invite all of the women who allege they were assaulted by the Lyinâ King, particularly Summer Zervos, who is actually suing him for defamation in NY.
What is the downside? Also, someone should invite the woman assaulted by Blake Farenthold, who hasnât yet left the House.
Gotta do this.
âPoliticize itâ??? WhoTF cares if it looks political? Congress has turned their heads for DECADESâŚrub their noses in it.
Theyâre gonna need a bigger CapitolâŚ
âSurvivorsâ ? more like âVictimsâ, I would thinkâŚ
Many prefer the first appellation.
Letâs hope they abandon this stupid idea⌠Almost makes you think Wasserman Schultz is still running things.
Iâd prefer to see Hillary, Bill and Chelsea. And a few members of Muellerâs team sitting separately.
I know it wonât happen, but it makes me smile to think of the reaction.
This is not a good idea and it smacks of what trumPP did during one of the debates when he brought Bill Clintonâs accusers to sit in the audience. Democrats might consider bringing women who perform the same work as men but get paid less, that could fill the building.
@jmacaz It makes no one but you think Schultz is still running things. Leader Pelosi is against the idea and the leader of the DNC is out of the picture. But you knew that.
Gee whiz, a move to shine light on serious, multiple charges of sexual assault by politicians are being labeled âpoliticizingâ ? Shocking! I think itâs a brilliant move, akin to Trumpâs inviting Clinton accusers to the debates. Pay the bastard back in his own coin and give those abused women a fresh platform.
I kinda like the idea of Trump being forced to stare at Jim Comey, Michael Wolff, and Colin Kaepernick.
Either that, or a long flight of stairs seated in the front row.
Particularly if Bill is holding a âHillary 2020â signâŚ
They need to get Trumpâs accusers and Hillary in the audience, That would throw Donald so far off heâd never get through the speech. Oh my fucking god that would be so fun to watch him meld downâŚgod damn that would be funny!
I support this move, as long as itâs not treated like a stunt to score cheap shots but as a show of support for an issue and a group of people that Democrats genuinely care about.
The could fill DCâliterally.
Itâs a State of the Union address. Everything is political theater.
Sure. All Iâm saying is that the message should be âsupport survivors,â not âget trump.â
I agree with the âone DemocratââŚthis is a very fucking stupid thing to do. If the Democrats want to use the SoU speech like that they deserve to be seen as no better than the GOP. A stunt like this demeans everything the victims of sexual abuse have been through. It uses them again just like their abusers did.
How could it be what you want it to be and not be what you donât want it to be? Itâs a stunt. Itâs a horrible abuse of the victims suffering to score a political point in a crass and demeaning way.
