Discussion: NBC Airs Footage Of Police Shooting Of Keith Lamont Scott In Charlotte

NO GUN!!! The gun shown on the ground in later photos released by the police WAS OBVIOUSLY PLACED THERE BY THE COPS!!!

This is MURDER, plain and simple.

Imagine that. A video that is at odds with the “official account”. Where’s the gun? Conveniently out of sight of the camera I suppose… Pardon my skepticism, but the cops have lost my trust. And I think they are losing the trust of the public in general.

The cops planted the gun, and even if there was one… IT’S AN OPEN CARRY STATE! Oh… unless you are brown then you can’t have one.

Someone needs to be arrested.

Anyone wonder why the Charlotte police do not want to release their video of the shooting now?

they are going to have to release it to the public now.

God help em, if there is a better video than the NBC News one.

No surprise that there was no gun. Not even the Chief of Police could see one.

This kind of stuff is only going to stop when a Federal Law is passed the criminalizes lying in a police report or planting evidence, with up 10 years in Federal prision.

This video is not very helpful as to whether he had a gun.

What was she yelling at them though? She said “he doesn’t have a gun, he has a …”

She definitely didn’t say book…

I can’t tell if he was in or out of the car or if he got shot getting out of the car or exactly what happened. I could not see any belligerent move.

“He has a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)” and had just taken his meds.

What is going on? Why did the police officers IGNORE his wife?

Do you mean to tell me that police officers are so stuck on taking a Black man’s life to the point, they completely IGNORE people who have important health issues that a person maybe experiencing?

Furthermore, I did not hear Mr. Scott’s voice at all. WHY is that?!

From the actions of the CPD chief in refusing to release the video and the call of the family who has seen it to have it released I can only conclude it shows the police in the wrong.

Filthy cops are just murderers in cops’ clothing.

NYT just reported that the wife yelled that he had no gun when police told him to drop it.

Hmmmm.

The most murderous gang in America wears blue uniforms.

With what’s been going on this whole summer with police shootings under protest. Their is a name for what the Charlotte police may have done. It’s called a “THROWAWAY” You are truly ignorant if you don’t know police have throwaway’s at their disposal in case they shoot a person who they thought had a gun. If this man does not have a gun. Then the Charlotte city would be writing a huge check to his family.

I realize police have a tough job etc, That their are incidents during routine traffic stops. A person has killed a cop. BUT first why is it when the police shoot they kill during routine traffic stops? Wouldn’t a tazer like weapon do the same job? Secondly the police across the nation don’t seem to understand that when people get pulled over by police. Your instinct is to get nervous. It’s a natural reaction. I am white I get nervous when I get pulled over even if it’s for a routine traffic stop.

Doug Baldwin Seattle WR whose father is a cop. He stated yesterday that Attorney Generals across the nation should consider implementing new police training methods. This sounds like a good idea. Instead it seems the police community closes it’s ranks and lashes out at the critics.

400 years of being owned as property, family member auctioned for profit.

100 years of Jim Crow, lynchings, and legal segregation.

One police shooting after another, with justice seemingly denied again and again and again.

For so many people of color…a tragic burlesque of the American Dream.

The American Scream.

Embedded video wasn’t working for me. Here’s the NBC link: http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/charlotte-shooting-video-footage-shows-fatal-encounter-between-police-keith-n653426

From vox.com via ritholtz.com:

Want to hold police accountable? The evidence is clear: film them. Always.

Where are all those Second Amendment defenders? Shouldn’t they be in front of cameras saying he had the right to have a gun? Shouldn’t they be questioning how the police handled the situation?

I am not a big fan of the Scalia interpretation of the Second Amendment, but if whites get the right to claim it, African Americans should too. This certainly looks like the police would treat the races differently.

All the recordings of the incident need to be released. Immediately.
