Tweak away at your law. As long as there is any law the NBA and decent people in general have no reason to go along with NC bigotry.
The National Basketball Association is editing NC legislation. I suppose Nascar will draft the regulations on clean water, and the NFL can tackle nuclear site evaluations.
McCrory: Looks like NBA believes in an unregulated small govt. Our right to be a legal bigot doest jibe with it.
Companies/organizations/people with money have been drafting legislation for years. Where have you been?
I understand the NC legislature’s hesitancy to change the law. Their internal studies indicate that 47,000 girls under the age of 9 were being raped annually in public restrooms through 2015. Requests to see the studies are being rebuffed, as they’re being audited.
NC GOP are attempting to put lipstick on their pig…NBA not buying it!
As far as pro sports commissioners go, I really like Adam Silver. He seems very decent and principled. From all accounts, the NBA players like him too. He’s seen as fair and just. He gained a lot of street cred for his handling of the Donald Sterling debacle. And during that, I could see that he was not only angry that it gave a black eye to the league, but he was genuinely offended, and grossed out, by the stupidity and disgusting nature of that man. So, I think he will do the right thing here. From a PR standpoint, for the league, it’s the right play. More importantly, I believe he’s doing this because he’s a good man who dislikes bullies and injustices. I’ve never met him, so this is all speculative, but I like to think I, and many of us here, have a good judge of character. The way he speaks, carries himself, and emotes tells me he’s a man who stands proudly on the moral high ground. This action supports that theory. He’s basically put scumbag, bigoted GOP NC legislature on notice–anything short of a total repeal will not suffice. Good on him.
What’s more important in NC, defending HB2 or providing disaster relief?
“On Thursday, the [NC] Senate Appropriations Committee approved giving Gov. Pat McCrory’s office $500,000 to defend the law in court by transferring the money from a disaster relief fund. The measure still must pass the full Senate and House.”

Better hope no hurricanes pay NC a visit.
Dear General Assembly. 1950 called. It wants it’s legislature back.
Repeal or nothing. Why is the NBA playing games?
Sadly, the reality is money moves mountains. And if they are wielding their checkbook and influence for a good cause…a just cause…so be it. Unlike companies like PayPal, who also did a good thing but are not on public display, the NBA All Star game not only brings business to Charlotte, but it showcases the city/state it’s in. So, if pulling down the GOP’s pants in public is what it takes to get this heinous law off the books, again…so. be. it.
Can transgendered people use the restrooms at Camp Lejeune, Fort Bragg, Coast Guard Base Support in Elizabeth City or Seymour Johnson Air Force Base?
That’s a much more complex issue, I would imagine. They can’t just move a franchise out of the city overnight.
Is that a trick question?
NBA tells NC lawmakers to … " Go and Stuff It " ! ! —
Noting good ever happens to Tweakers.
I’ll try to explain some of it the way I see it. To stop the Hornets from playing games is unrealistic. Firstly, they are one of 30 teams in the NBA, so the most minor of the reasons is scheduling, for starters. Secondly, there is a player’s union whom I’m sure would have a problem with it. But mostly, Michael Jordan, the owner of the Hornets, isn’t the one who made this law. Nor did the fans of the Hornets. Even if half of the fan base put these asshole GOPers in charge with their votes, or lack there of, you can’t punish the other half. Also, Commish Silver is appointed by and beholden to the 30 owners. He has 30 bosses, Jordan being one of them. So, the decision to not play ANY games until the law is repealed, would have to come from Jordan himself, in conjunction with the league. Jordan is born and raised in NC. That isn’t about to happen. I’m not sure to destroy the economy of Charlotte, and adversely effect the people of Charlotte, the restaurant/bar owners, the store owners, the whole economy around the arena, is the best way to attack this. But an event as public as All Star Weekend, which is 4 days of festivities in the host city, which brings tourism and a national spotlight onto the city, would be a more efficient and poignant protest. I simply don’t think moving the Hornets out of NC, because of a legislature that can be turned over after a couple of election cycles, is prudent or realistic.
Your thoughts?
What’s the point of your question?
I don’t understand your point.
