Discussion for article #238542
Very sad. Condolences to friends and families.
Attention TPM editor: “Navy sailor” is redundant. It’s like saying “Air Force airman” or “Army soldier.”
And the NSRA is making money off of their “gun free zones” malarkey from this.
This seems to be the Facebook photo of Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith. Putting a face to the tragedy is a terrible reality.

I’m pretty sure this a typo but if it were their name it could stand for No Stinkin’ Regrets At’all
Wondering how many more military have to die here at home before this Administration and Congress will give them the means to defend themselves in these situations.
R.I.P. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith
Not a typo. It’s what they should be required to call themselves in a world where they are required to be truthful.
There are several definitions of NSRA on the Web, what does yours mean?

So this tragedy is getting alot of attention and for good reason. But what about all the rest of the population that these things are happening to everyday and everynight. Gun deaths are as common as going to the bathroom.
These are the most dangerous states in America:
- Tennessee
Violent crimes per 100,000: 643.6
Poverty rate: 17.9%
Pct. of population with bachelor’s degree or higher: 24.3%
Property crimes per 100,000: 3,371.4 (10th highest)
Tennessee has the dubious distinction of having the worst violent crime rate in the country. The state was among the top 10 in the country for murders and robberies and was first for aggravated assaults, with an estimated 479.6 for every 100,000 residents. Tennessee’s 41,550 violent crimes in 2012 were up 6.8% from 2011 but down 10% from 2007, when there were 46,380 violent crimes. There were 388 murders in the state in 2012, up for a second straight year. To be fair, Tennessee’s violent streak is concentrated in some of the major metropolitan areas. Memphis’s violent crime rate was the nation’s fifth worst, while Nashville’s was the 18th worst. Like many states with high violent crime, poverty in Tennessee is acute, and high school and college graduation rates are lower than most of the country.
They preach as good story up there in nashville while driving debt up and are already coming for more of our money county by county while cutting the throats of everybody else. We have the richest gov in the country and a handful of followers getting rich. but we are #1 for being the worst. JUst watch local news and see the machine in action.
National Socialist Rifle Association.
Pentagon policy is that recruitment centers staff with unarmed service members so as not not to make that environment feel threatening to people who drop in to sign up.
Is it that right!?!?
People who drop in to sign up for a branch of the military, and not just any military but the US Military, feeling threatened by people with guns? Holy cow, that policy/statement is funny!!!
Ash Carter, Secretary of DOD is who you want to take that up with.
Ashton Carter (D), United States Secretary of Defense?
No wonder…!!!
I think you are wasting your time with someone who clearly has never been in the military. Someone who would drag out the tired old line about guns, guns, more guns on a story about a young man’s untimely passing.
I’m kicking myself because I know exactly who we’re dealing with.
He didn’t institute the policy, trolling asshat posing as concerned citizen.
Indeed it was a policy that was firmly in place when I was in the Marines back in the late 60s. But I guess that is not the point, facts and logic do not matter to the dedicated troll.
