Discussion: Navajo Nation President: Trump's 'Pocahontas' Attack Is An Ethnic Slur

It’s gotten to the point that there is nothing left to say. The fact that this shit-stain of a human being is still occupying the oval office left the realm of disbelief ages ago.

If Trump was smart (yeah, I know, “Ha-Ha!”), he would have called Warren a “Jew-and-ni**er-loving dyke half-breed”. If he had, a reporter at The New York Times would have written an adoring six-page profile of him.

Now an actual Native American is saying that Trump’s use of the name “Pocahontas” to make a political jab during the ceremony is an ethnic slur. This will make Eric Trump’s head explode.

Too bad they didn’t say this yesterday to his orange, bloated face.

Have any/all of you listened to the remarks made by Mr. MacDonald just prior to Trump’s comment? They were beautiful and eloquent–and they turned Trump’s already distasteful remark into an absolutely disgraceful one. All the dignity in that room were embodied in our beloved Navajo code talkers.

What would some Navajo Chief know what is and what isn’t an ethic slur?

That’s Donnie’s job as Asshole-in-Chief.

“When you’re in the midst of great heroes, you need to respect them and leave everything else aside and just honor them and thank them.”

Trump quickly concurred, but forgave the three Code Talkers anyway.

It wasn’t an “opinion”. It was an elegy on the meaning of sacrifice and love of country.

I know, right? I feel like Trump has avoided many well-deserved punches in the nose over his lifetime because people couldn’t make a scene (now they can’t punch him because they would have Secret Service men all over them). He gets away with his obnoxiousness because he never suffers any negative consequences for it.

Damn! That could seriously damage his colon…

I know we’ve all had times when we think of the right thing to do after the moment has already passed, but man oh man why didn’t the Navajo Code Talkers just turn their backs on trump and leave the room the instant he used Pocahontas as a slur?

Mr. President:
Please explain why you would mention Senator Warren at all in the context of this ceremony. I’m happy to wait for your answer. In fact, I’m waiting for you to croak, so I am a very patient man.
Respectfully yours,
Maxaroo

Of course what made this all the more atrocious is the fact this entire ceremony was conducted in front of a portrait of Andrew Jackson.

I think people are too shocked and disbelieving of what they heard to do anything but go along with the ritual. I know I would be like, wait a minute, did he really just say that? And then you think, well, this is a big day for a lot of other people, I’m not going to make a scene, because maybe I heard it wrong. If you ruin the ceremony but your understanding of what you heard was mistaken, then you look like an ass. So it’s safer just to go along and not make waves.

On the other hand, one of these days I would love for someone to call Trump out in the moment.

“He added later: “When you’re in the midst of great heroes, you need to respect them and leave everything else aside and just honor them and thank them.””

Fat chance with this §resident.

In this venue and occasion there was absolutely no gain again to be provocative like he was. He might have a few cheers from the outhouse, but even some of his followers might be offended in this situation simply by not being the right time and place. He is honoring war heroes. He can be the most evil guy on the planet, but it had no real external gain to soil that moment. But he went for it. Deeply shows he cannot contain his inner voice very well and definitely shows no one has influence to prevent it. And that latter point is what I am getting at. He is spinning in his little delusional world and I think the threads to the outside world are snapping away as we watch now. Let the Huckabee-Sanders in his group apologize and deny it, but they are working for a man who is no longer tethered to this planet. Have a nice day.

Right, that’s why we remember the pastor in Flint. She’s the only one throughout this all who has had the presence of mind to call trump’s BS to his face!

He spoke so beautifully. It’s really pretty sad that when someone speaks up for the beauty of diversity, inclusion, and true American values, it feels like a slight jab at the hatemongering president. I don’t think that was his intent, but that’s just where we are.

Meanwhile idtios like Chris Matthews on MSNBC are busy arguing if Warren is an authentic Native American, a story that was settled years ago (she’s not), and disregarding the racist President’s slur and what should be done about him when he continues to use it.

More Code Talkers:

Using a substitution method similar to the Navajo, the Comanche code word for tank was “turtle”, bomber was “pregnant airplane”, machine gun was “sewing machine” and Adolf Hitler was referred to as "crazy white man"

Hey, if the word fits…
