The “ordinariness” of these events has now set in.
They won.
Especially since these youngsters appear to be a tad different than those of 50 years ago.
THEN, kids were highly politically aware and organized because–with the Military Draft threatening males with Vietnam–bullets (from the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong) were palpable threats.
NOW, we have dangers which approach those of the 1960s (albeit from ammosexuals on Campus)…but, apparently, that’s not going to wake people of that age to become more active, politically.
I say “apparently”, because we still do not know who will actually show up on 2016.
The always-changeable early reports make this sound like a very familiar situation—there’s some sort of confrontation over a parking space or the way somebody looked at someone’s girlfriend, somebody pulls a gun because he (or rarely she) has a gun to pull, and things get out of control. Instant carnage, no mental illness necessary. That may or may not describe this case when the facts come out but it describes plenty of them. So listen up, gun trolls, I’d like to pre-offer a “fuck you” to anyone who wants to show up saying there are no current proposals that would have prevented this. That’s a red herring and everyone here knows it. If you don’t want to see drastic restrictions in the future—we’ve amended the Constitution before, you know—you might think about accepting commonsense, minimal ones now. Just sayin’.
We don’t allow 18 year olds to legally consume alcohol or tobacco, but allow them to wield guns in public. That doesn’t say much for our collective intelligence.
Guns are for killing. Some for killing animals, some for killing higher animals (humans), but all for efficiently ending life. They are highly effective and well designed - decades of refinements make them more powerful, more accurate, lighter, faster. So yeah why else would you need to carry one to your work, your school, shopping, other than to kill the other guy. Even your ammosexuals will tell you the idea is to keep safe by killing the other guy first. In practice it’s very rare that the other guy has a gun, but why should that matter? Just ups the odds in your favor. Not carrying is just a good way to get killed, because the smart money is on carrying (Thanks NRA), which is why victims are “losers” aka dead. Hat tip to Ted Nugent for recently calling victims of gun violence losers.
True - except, while you can’t blame mom for violence if she is a gun nut, the GOTP does blame mom for getting herself pregnant and ruining “family values.”
NAU President Rita Cheng called the incident “isolated and unprecedented.”
… Classes will continue as scheduled, Cheng said, but added “this is not going to be a normal day at NAU.”
So, three wounded and one dead isn’t even enough to call off classes for the day anymore, but we are still going to claim school shootings are “isolated and unprecedented.” Gotcha.
“But you have to admit campuses are much safer now that students are armed! These statistics I’m pulling out of my ass prove it! Those news reports and scientific studies you keep bringing up are all lies! A conspiracy to separate me from my beloved wiener-substitutes! …I mean, to place America under Sharia Law or something!”
