what! mitt’s awkward? say it isn’t so. i heard that mr. etch is going to release 10 years worth of back taxes, has finally remembered the incident where he and his friends cut off the gay kids’ long hair, tricked a nearly blind professor into walking into a closed glass door, is interested in becoming bestest buds with the 47%, is planning to fight for dog safety, and has expanded his list of qualified women (he talks a lot with cosby). and don’t get me going with the magical u-trow. awkward?
Well consider the flip side of that…
…do you really think that Jeb is anymore connected to the rabid and loud part of the base than Romney? Politically he might be even more abhorred, given his Core and Immigration stances. But the media, including the right wing media, is blissfully going along as if its no big issue.
And having Romney in the race allows them to continue to go on as if there is no issue with the base. It’s an interesting approach, but it falls apart rapidly if a Tea Party candidate with some national attention throws his/her hat into the ring. I don’t really see one of those gearing up, however…excluding Paul, which is more loony than tea party crazy.
Mitt Romney has great conservative credentials and would be a perfect conservative candidate! The National Review has its analysis all wrong.
After all the energy expended selling him as the Mr. Fix-It from the private sector for years and years now
Here’s the thing Lowry can’t bring himself to admit: it will be even tougher to sell Mitt as Mr. Fix It when the one who fixed it was someone he vehemently opposed at every turn. Sure, he might be able to fool the Republican base, but it’s going to be extraordinarily awkward if he’s running against the president’s extremely successful record. Obama and the Democratic candidate will make mincemeat out of him as they travel across the country pointing out all the things he was completely wrong about. Actually, I think whomever the GOP nominee might be will be faced with that awkward problem.
" it requires a certain shamelessness and imperviousness to criticism. "
Yes, he seems to know Mitt.
I always felt Romney sent little starbursts through the screen that ricoched around my living room. But perhaps it was just the mushrooms.
