Discussion: National Republicans Jump Into Two More House Districts Once Considered Safe

Personally, I wish they would just jump off a building of at least 3 stories…

I saw something on twitter yesterday, Trump isn’t going to ND to campaign, the person thought it meant that the White House views that ND seat as already won by the GOP.

I do think the Dems will take the house but, i think we might lose a seat or 2 in the Senate which sucks but, 2020 should be a good year for Dems in the Senate

Grothman’s district hasn’t been represented by a D in over 50 years. This is a big deal.

Grothman’s seat was never safe. I always had it as the Dems strongest pickup opportunity in WI.
The Mark Sanford seat in SC-01 was always on the bubble because we have a particularly strong candidate there in Joe Cunningham and the GOP does not.

Ronald Reagan spent the Soviet Union into bankruptcy. Let’s bankrupt the GOP!

There are still a few days before the election, time to re-double our efforts. Re-double because now is the time GOP operatives roll out the big lies to try to sow confusion. Happens every year. Don’t get fooled again.

Contact your local Democratic Party and work to get out the vote. Volunteer at a phone bank or go doorbelling. There is NO better way to exercise Democracy than by going door to door and talking with people. And few things will change a MAGA voter’s opinion of Dems than an offer to get them to the polls.

Go door-to-door getting out the vote. Help people fill out their ballots and get them mailed for states with mail-in ballots. Help drive people to the polls November 6th if necessary.

We’re getting down to the wire- DON"T GIVE UP!

VOTE!!!

The twisted GOP periodically gives me pause at what they make me root for - at least on a gut level.

A decade or so ago - I couldn’t stand sanctimonious (on those days terms) Sanford. I found the Appalachian Trail a pathetic but hilarious episode and self-inflicted political implosion. He had been a darling of the “fiscal conservative” right, and touted as a future Presidential contender. Blech.

Then he reemerged to run again. My initial reaction was - dang that’s arrogant. But he did seem regretful/toned down. Then in the era of Trump - he has been candid, and at times a bit crusty towards Trump. Dang, I sorta like him. (Curses Fox News and Trumpian Times - I just admitted I sorta like Sanford!)

In that spirit - on top of really wanting to win as many Democratic races as possible (the strong and real desire) - reading this - a part of me also wants to see the Trumpian upstart who primaried Sanford go down. It would be like a maraschino cherry on the icing on the cupcake.

No worries…just bring in Republican controlled voting machines from Texas and these house districts will be secure in rigged Republican hands.

You have the right to carry AK-47’s…but your right to vote in fair elections in the US has been abolished by the Republican white nationalist movement. They will do anything to keep the rich white males in control.

And, Grothman is as grotesque as Trump, even bearing a striking resemblance to him except for the hair.

I suspect this is turning into something like Whack-A-Mole. As soon as they spend a bunch of money propping up one group of candidates, another group reveals their vulnerabilities, and they can never get out in front of it. And then there will always be the races that are just hard to poll for various reasons and they never really see it coming until candidates fall on election night.

What I think has happened is that the GOP has been relying on partisan advantage, voter history and gerrymandering to ignore certain districts while they focused on holding down the Dem edge in those suburban districts that HRC won. They were essentially ignoring the polling showing that their numbers in safer GOP districts were lackluster.

Now, as they’re trying to build an electorate they’re realizing that the lackluster polls are closer to the truth and they’re scrambling to reinvigorate the electorate that they typically rely on.

He is vile. He’s like a brain-damaged Steve King.

I have been looking at the polls and wondering how likely voter models are being constructed this year. I know a lot of Republicans in allegedly safe seats are spending a lot of money.

So much voting has already happened too. Spending money now looks more like payola to ad content builders, consultants, and broadcaster pals than actually trying to win anything.

Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!
Go Joe Cunningham!

(Take a peek ladies, you’ll be glad you did!)

Yep, that is why I asked you about Cunningham a couple of weeks ago. Really glad to see this race getting some press. So great if Joe pulls this out! Woot Woot!

Go Joe!

I’ve long thought he is a great candidate. Just not sure about the district being too Republican. I think if anyone could win it for Team Blue, he’s about the best candidate we could possibly put up.

Hope you’re right. We need Dems to outperform polls if there is any hope of saving this country.
