What? No more alien invasions to divert me while waiting to pay for groceries! Whatever will I do? Check email?

Tell you what, AMI… open the safe and put it all on-line with a robust search engine and I’ll buy a subscription!

I would too!

You know, if Pecker goes down for this, it’ll be some of Karma’s best and most ironic work.

ETTD.

Not enough of a hit.

Not sad at all. They more-or-less admitted under immunity that their editorial process is sold to the highest bidder!

So mobbed up Christie was embezzling the state pension fund as well. This is something that calls for an investigation.

When Christie gives money from the NJ pension fund to a group of conservative activists to buy up newspapers and print attack pieces on his rivals and gushing praise for himself and his allies, I call that embezzlement.

Why would people pay to read crazy shit in the National Enquirer when they can get it for free from Fox and the Internet?

One of my favorite headlines was…
“Secret Air Force Experiment Reveals Psychics Heads Explode in ESP Duel” - or something like that.

Wingnuts only know how to be in the opposition. Once they’re in power they have little clue about what to do.

Pecker’s immunity might be about more than just payoffs to pornstars.
His free ads for a candidate may be unreported in-kind contributions, especially if they were coordinated with the campaign:

According to Sam Nunberg, an early Trump campaign adviser, the
Enquirer was Cohen’s “account,” and the relationship with the Enquirer
was “a big commodity” in Trump’s circle.

However, “If you get something on the cover of the National Enquirer,” Nunberg said, “it’s a publication that people pay attention to in the grocery store. You are conveying a message, and it’s free media.”

An FBI raid executed April 8 on Cohen’s office and residences sought
all of the lawyer’s records of communications with AMI, Pecker and
Howard regarding two women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump
while he was married, according to three people familiar with the
investigation.

The search warrant served on Cohen also sought all communications he
had with Trump or the Trump campaign about any “negative publicity”
that might arise during the presidential race.

“Fake News”, should become the National Enquirer’s new name if they have to rejuvenate themselves in the near future.

That creditor backstopping AMI is a New Jersey investment fund called Chatham Asset Management. Its top executive dined with Pecker and Trump at the White House last year, and the fund has both a history of Republican political donations and ties to the administration of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, which awarded it hundreds of millions of dollars in state retirement funds to manage.

Geez, pull on any thread in the extended criminal enterprise that is today’s G.O.P…

ETA: Talk about burying the lede!

If I had money in Chatham asset management I would be pulling it all out damn quick. Investing in a company that is hemorrhaging millions of dollars for political reasons is not my idea of responsible money management. New Jersey needs to wake up.

Define Death Spiral

“weekly circulation fell by 18 percent to 265,000 in its 2018 fiscal
year from the same period the year before — the greatest percentage loss
of any AMI-owned publication. The slide follows the Enquirer’s 15
percent circulation loss for the previous 12 months, a span that
included the presidential election.”

Having attended an all male junior high and high school (and according to my wife, been forever warped by the experience) I have a theory about the drop in circulation. The people who used to be hypnotically attracted to The Enquirer as they waited in the grocery store line, now have the word “Pecker” pop into their head before their hands can pull the magazine off the rack and into their cart.

Or their reader base is aging and pretty much dying off?
