Hmmm… if this is a sample of what they think is oppo its pretty weak tea.
Perhaps they think that Houstonians would otherwise have been unaware that she had just moved back to the city she was born and raised in last year without this hot tip from them? Or perhaps they think folks can’t tell the difference between a “carpetbagger” and a native Houstonian who came back after being successful elsewhere?
Maybe they are also unaware that probably 90% of Houstonians would rather have a tooth pulled than move to PARIS, Texas, 300 miles to the north, just south of the OK border and somewhat west of Texarkana on the edge of the pineys? A problem might be contrived here were she running for governor or senator rather than a congressional seat in Houston, but she isn’t, and I doubt most of the district will be persuaded to see this as a horrible problem. People from different regions of Texas often see other regions of the same state as virtually different planets. And if we’re speaking of Houston and Paris they aren’t far wrong. Its like a Philadelphia candidate saying they wouldn’t live in Perry County, Pa if you paid them to. No Philadelphian would hold that against them. (btw, am I supposed to believe that the dccc has some objection to carpetbaggers in principle? I don’t think the past record reflects that.)
I also read the Huffpost piece and I can’t read it as even suggesting that her husband, personally, “has a sexual assault problem”, he actually comes off as the most supportive to victims of the principals at that firm when he was there.
Does this make Moser the best candidate? Not necessarily, but if she’s a bad one its not for any of the reasons the DCCC provides. Just hope they are satisfied with this, and don’t do like the DSCC was wont to do here in Pennsy, spending most (2010) followed by a lot (2016), of its allowable coordinated expenditures trying to control the primary, leaving not all that much in the kitty to fund the general election campaign of the eventual nominee.
For what its worth, for the DCCC to be doing this so directly I assume they had already tried and failed to get some more local heavy hitters to do it themselves, which would always be the preferred method.
