Nothing to see here?! He was the POTUS, and his wife and the astrologer were doing dog knows what behind the scenes.

It also gives the lie to him actually running the country. He was playing just another part.

That’s some world-class faux-wingnut word salad. Kudos.

Isn’t it about time for Peggy Noonan to jump in with another heartwarming Ronald Reagan story? How about telling us about the times he would sneak out of bed in the early morning hours and feed the deer on the White House lawn. Nancy told the Secret Service it was OK. In the morning the Secret Service would return the deer to their pens behind the Old Executive Office Building. Ronnie never caught on.

Ronnie was past the point of catching on to much of anything.

Wow. It’s even worse than I thought.

Exactly. Lou Canon, one of Reagan’s biographers described it as “The Role of a Lifetime.”

I’ve never heard of astrologers organizing and funding political movements to deny people their civil liberties and freedom of choice. I can’t recall any crusades or jihads tied to planetary placements either.

Reagan and then another puppet - George W. Bush.

The damage to this country that has been done because of that is incalculable.

The point is that Reagan wasn’t setting the agenda. Neither were his wife and the astrologer.

She probably had more to do with running this country than a demented Reagan.

Who cares? Astrology makes as much sense as Christianity, which is about as rational as Scientology… That we have world leaders making policy decisions based on God giving Israel to the Jews and Mohamed flying into heaven on a winged horse shows just how deeply imbedded in bullshit we are.

Like a B-movie.

Who new Nancy was the real dope?

If an astrologer has the ear of the most powerful man on the planet, whose finger is on the button of Armageddon, I’d be worried about my civil liberty and freedom of choice. Just sayin’. We do not disagree on the insidious nature of religion in politics.

Many are looking for answers but asking the wrong questions. They look up to the heavens for guidance on issues right here on the ground. I understand it works for some and I wouldn’t malign their personally held beliefs. I do give a big damn when they try to use their interpretation of ancient writings as an operations manual for 21st Century government.

Sheldon Kopp wrote a book about searching for answers, If You Meet the Buddah On the Road, Kill Him. Excellent read. Kinky Friedman wrote a song about the search…

I read that book a looooooooong time ago and I remember I liked it. Hadn’t thought about it in years.

Miss Quigley volunteered to work in Reagan’s presidential campaign in 1980, she said, because she was dazzled by his stars. “He had the most brilliant horoscope I’d ever seen in this country in this century,”

That is from the obit in NYT.

Wouldn’t every single person born the same day as Reagan have the same horoscope? Why didn’t they all become actors and Presidents?
