Discussion: Nadler Says Barr 'Conclusions Raise More Questions Than They Answer'

Take heart everyone. This letter today was from Barr and it was not Mueller’s report. This is not the end for King Dumb Dumb. Congress will do all it can to get this report and see that we get justice.

Bless you @zillacop. This is the kind of spirit we need.

Barr is a damned hack who overstepped his bounds (of not upsetting the baby in the White House) and REALLY caused a snafu which will cost him whatever legacy he would have had.

Schiff usually chooses his words carefully. When he was recently interviewed he was fairly hard on Barr. I take from that that Schiff is prepared to deal with him.

Thank you, but you know from my posts that I’m real up and down. And, was very down earlier until I read other’s posts to see this wasn’t the end of the story.

Same here! Barr is doing exactly what he was appointed to do and it’s in accordance with his previous statements about the OSC. Sadly, 11/20 is the only way to end Trump at this point.

News for you is that we are ALL up and down. Let’s give a little timeline. This is the greatest peril this country has faced since WWII.

When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor it was Dec. 7, 1941. Twenty nine months after that it was May 7 1944 and we were fairly confident that the Germans and Japanese were on the Defensive.

On April 8, We will be 29 months after Trump’s election and the outcome of this emergency situation is far from certain. To make it worse, the “enemy” is right beside us.

  • Trumpers
  • The GOP Senate
  • FOX and other corrupt media

Thanks for Hanging in There.

If I were a Trump worshiper, I would be happy now. That’s honesty. Here’s some more:

  1. Barr could have written that letter in 20 minutes. What was he doing yesterday?

  2. The letter is partisan trash. It avoids having to mention the convictions and guilty pleas and known Russia contacts by referring the reader to the public record, thereby obscuring the actual work the counsel did.

  3. The no collusion finding contradicts what’s in the charging documents. IMAGINE FOR ONE MOMENT what it would look like if you knew nothing about the case, read this summary, and THEN looked at the convictions and confessions (not to mention Jr’s emails). It would be nonsense, especially all the Manafort lying and the clear anger on the SC’s part at his lies about Russian contacts made after the election.

  4. Trump is surprised by this outcome. So is Ghouliani. Why?

  5. Pelosi is a brilliant leader. She has not made this the centerpiece of the Democratic vision and kept her options open. She could be looking really stupid right now, but she looks rock solid.

  6. The Blue Wave of 2018 was won on issues, not “collusion.” We need to keep that discipline. I think we are all pretty united in disgust right now. We have to keep that.

  7. Even on something this big, the news cycle moves on. Economic downturn, failure of N. Korea policy, and Brexit disaster are all going to knock this off the front page.

  8. The House needs to keep investigating, but run it in the background until we get to the good stuff and foreground policies focused on health care, climate, income inequality in the meantime.

  9. Trump survived this because it came out piecemeal and numbed the public. Let’s not make the same mistake with other investigations.

  10. GOPers would be saying the same thing they’re saying now no matter what Mueller had said. No Trump hater hates him any less today, and no swing voter was waiting for this result to make up her mind. We have to beat Trump at the polls the same way we would have if Barr had turned on him instead of licking his shoes.

I also suggest everybody decompress for a while. I’m removing news apps from my phone and bookmarks toolbar for the next week (at least) and going to plunge myself into reading about and writing about things that I like. I’m still a Prime member, though, so I will still be supporting TPM’s amazing work. But I’m also in Ohio and we are hard at work on flipping the state in 2020. Notably, impeachment doesn’t come up in our discussions of what needs to happen over the next 19 months. Volunteer, donate, register, vote.

How could this investigation naturally over, when there are tons of things we know and remain unanswered?

I must say that watching the initial breathless reporting on msnbc relating that trump was exonerated (mostly) by the Mueller report (according to Barr) I found myself about as angry as I have ever been. I’ve watched trump’s public fuck ups, his very public obstruction and I have heard and read his lies. Barr’s summary at first blush was a whitewash … if that is what Mueller’s report says.
Now we begin a 2 year long election run up and an incompetent buffoon has the wind at his back. The voters had best not fuck it up this time. If they do I may just move to France.

From the Barr summary:
2800+ subpoenas
500 search warrants
230 orders for communications records
13 requests to foreign governments
500 witnesses
indictments
arrests
trials
guilty pleas
all over 22 months
…
And trump feels exonerated??

Trump seemed to have advanced information as to what Barr’s letter would say about the report as much as 4 days ago. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

Darr, what’s It going to run on? This? This isn’t going to carry Its bloated skin suit very far. It’s got to figure some other shtick, because even It’s stupidest fan will tire of “no collusion” now that the issue (in their minds) is spent.

Agree, this letter comes from an AG who has written and believes that the President, any President I assume, is above the law. It will be interesting to see how hard the AG and WH fight to keep the 175 pages private. The more they succeed the more one can believe the 4 pages Barr wrote are a white wash and are obstruction.

With that said, the AGs letter does not surprise me at all. It is imperative that the “powers that be” keep things business as usual. It is necessary wither REPUG or DIM that those at the pinnacle remain there. The US is a nation created for the 1% and is run by the 1%, believing otherwise is just delusional. Wish it wasn’t so.

They will now run on “the media are the enemy!!! See what they did to your president??” So be ready for more “enemy of the people” talk.
