Wow, Nadler is trolling Spanky. I expect that anyone connected with the Trumps at any point is going to end up in front of Nadler’s committee at some point. It is basically like working for the mob, anyone who gets involved with it gets corrupted and you can’t easily leave it.
I think by leaving Ivanka off the list, the Democrats are toying with Trump, she is the mouse to their cat.
“Ivanka the Terrible”
Coming to a House committee investigation near you soon.
I heard a rightwing yakker last night muse that they (the Democrats) are obviously setting perjury traps and hence people should simply refuse to testify. I think he said ‘everybody’ should refuse to testify (That’ll show em!). It got me thinking about the very idea of a ‘perjury trap’. What is it? How is it avoided? Seems self-evident it is pure bullshit, and the way out of a perjury trap is to simply answer the questions to the best of your ability. Of course, that means you may find yourself admitting to a crime, in which case, if you don’t want to ‘come clean’ then the fifth is your only other option. A perjury trap! What a devious invention! Goddam Democrats!
Can’t help thinking back to when Rudy said sons were expendable, but daughters are made of sugar and spice and everything nice and can’t be indicted so you better think twice. It’s nice not to have him splooging all over the headlines any more. Calm and dignified, in a relative way.
I guess any situation in which you have to testify truthfully or face a charge is a “perjury trap,” by some people’s definition. It’s like a “process crime,” which is a fancy way of saying “a crime you committed in the course of committing another crime.”
Oh yeah, ‘process crime’, another way of saying ‘nothing to see here, move along.’
The trouble with process crimes is if you’re convicted of one the penalty is just as inconvenient as it would be if imposed for a standalone crime.
This list is literally the Who’s Who of the Trump Crime Family. I cannot wait until a flow chart is created illustrating the connections. It will look like the character guide to a Dostoyevsky novel. Maybe it will be featured in the Mueller report.
A ‘perjury trap’ is when an investigator asks a question that he or she already knows the answer to and already has the evidence to back up the answer.
It’s avoided by answering the question truthfully, or, if that’s not a viable option, by invoking one’s Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate oneself. Another way of avoiding a ‘perjury trap’ is to live a blameless life, but that hardly applies to anyone we’re dealing with here.
Nadler knew she could be added when he made the first list.
Nadler just did some serious trolling…
Remember when the coyote was balanced on the rock on the cliff…and the rock swayed his way…and then it didn’t…?
The Trump Crime Family knows it’s immune from any real prosecution or penalty. There’s no way in hell that anyone in the Trump family will ever be genuinely prosecuted for the obvious crimes he/she has committed; this is all theater and nonsense. There will never be a perjury charge and there was never a chance of one. Regardless of how brazen Trump’s crimes are, the world we now live in means the powerful protect the powerful, even if they’re in opposing parties. Oh sure, the Dems will threaten, subpoena and otherwise claim to be outraged at what Trump’s done, but in the end, they’ll get the same amount of political mileage out of posturing, so nothing will ever be done. In fact, nowadays it’s unseemly and extremely partisan for a Democrat to enforce the law (oversight and/or impeachment); but when a republican does it, it’s all a patriotic duty…barf, barf, barf. Congress fiddles as Rome burns.
Add the airhead already, she won’t take much of their time, the moron will perjure herself in five minutes.
"Mrs. Kushner, can you please define the term ‘Rosebud’ for the committee? "
The only people who get in trouble because of perjury traps are liars.
A “perjury trap” is when a prosecutor asks an irrelevant question that may be embarrassing to answer truthfully. It is prosecutorial misconduct.
When the phrase is used on TV, it is used incorrectly at least ninety-nine times out of a hundred.
All those dots. Everywhere.
This situation requires the creative imagination of a Glenn Beckkk to connect them all properly . (Where is good old Glennn these days?)
In ten minutes (including breaks for commercial announcements for gold bullion and Viagra) he would draw a chalkboard that proves without question Ivanka is the mastermind behind the entire Trump Org, Russian collusion, and the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa.
Mrs. Kushner, the House Judiciary Committee wants you to show them on this doll where the bad daddy touched you.
But lying about an irrelevant matter isn’t perjury. From the definition of perjury:
18 U.S. Code § 1621. Perjury generally
Whoever …
willfully and contrary to such oath states or subscribes any material matter which he does not believe to be true
I would have thought that you would have known that, since you claim to know everything else.
