Discussion: Nadler: 'If Proven,' Parts Of Mueller Report 'Would Be Impeachable'

“If proven, some of this would be impeachable. Yes, obstruction of justice, if proven, would be impeachable.”

That’s good. I’ll take that.

Nonsense. The very first thing AG Barr did on Thursday was to lay out the predicate as to why Pres. Trump did not obstruct the 'Collusion" investigation due to a ‘criminal intent’.

“President Trump faced an unprecedented situation. As he entered into office and sought to perform his responsibilities as president, federal agents and prosecutors were scrutinizing his conduct before and after taking office, and the conduct of some of his associates.

“At the same time, there was relentless speculation in the news media about the president’s personal culpability. Yet, as he said from the beginning, there was, in fact, no collusion.”

Pres. Trump was trying to stop a false ‘witch hunt’ (as he saw it) that was impinging on his ability to carry out his presidential duties, ergo: no criminal intent.

If it’s in the report, and Barr didn’t redact, it’s pretty much proven to me … until disproved.

Impeach the motherfucker.

“if proven”

As if the evidence has not already proven obstruction of justice beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Still slow-walkin’ it, eh, Jerry?

Impeachment Now!

“Obstruction of justice can be motivated by a desire to protect noncriminal personal interests, to protect against investigations where underlying criminal liability falls into a gray area, or to avoid personal embarrassment,” Mueller said. “The injury to the integrity of the justice system is the same regardless of whether a person committed an underlying wrong.”

Shit. Cue 37 copy/paste statements about how Nadler isn’t doing his job since they didn’t open impeachment hearings on 9 November, despite not having had the majority until the new Congress was sworn in…

A good one-word description of the noxious piffle you just posted.

Barr lied.
Repeatedly.
Just like his boss.

Someone should wrap you in cellophane and label you “sucker.”

Obstruction goes to intent. If Pres. Trump’s intent in firing Comey was to stop what was eventually proven to be, a false accusation, from impinging on his ability to perform his presidential duties, his ‘intent’ was not criminal.

That comment is so full of shit that I can smell it through the tubes of the interwebs.

Please—quit while you’re behind.

‘Criminal Intent’ is the only real element in an ‘obstruction’ case.

Totally false.

18 U.S.C. § 1503 defines “obstruction of justice” as an act that “corruptly or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication, influences, obstructs, or impedes, or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede, the due administration of justice.”

You will note that “criminal intent” is not mentioned in the statute.

It’s becoming apparent that you enjoy being a laughingstock.

Yup. It’s certainly easier to bring a case before a jury where you have the clear motivation of covering up a criminal act, but by no means a bar to prosecution.

> “…Trump’s arguably obstructionist conduct took place in full public view — something that, with a normal person with normal moral inhibitions, would have indicated a lack of criminal intent. But in the head of Donald J. Trump, who knows?”…George Conway III

And here I was thinking Pres. Trump is innocent until proven guilty, who knows?

Conway is saying Pres. Trump is either insane and guilty or innocent and a genius.

Good on Nadler. Keep going after the information, including Trump’s taxes and his business’ taxes. It took some time to get to this point and it will take some time to get beyond it. Set up legal bases for obtaining the information, including subpoenas and the like. I just don’t see SCOTUS preventing information during an impeachment proceeding from seeing the light of day.

The other big argument to make is: what is Trump hiding? Why not approve release of everything? If it’s always been a witch hunt, if he has nothing to hide nor to be ashamed of? Get on this message and don’t let up.

Conway is a very conservative Republican.
His opinions are not impartial.

And impeachment is not about criminal intent, Cupcake.
It’s about abuse of power—in this case—and total lack of fitness for office.

Is your deliberate obtuseness painful?
It certainly should be.

“IF PROVEN”???
Wasn’t that what the Mueller Report was supposed to be all about?
Isn’t the evidence all out there, in front of our faces every day, and proven already???
For the sake of God, DO SOMETHING, Democrats, DON’T JUST WRING YOUR GODDAMN HANDS!!!
