Discussion for article #222153
The NAACP needs to sit back and keep their mouth shut on this matter.
They had to have known Sterling is a racist because of his many other racist comments and actions, but instead, they gave him an award and took his money and was in the works to give him another award.
They are nothing but hypocrites for speaking out now against him. They seem to like or was okay with the racist when they were taking his money.
I was actually thinking the same thing until I saw that this was the national NAACP, not the local LA chapter of the NAACP which is the organization that actually planned to give him an award. The national NAACP had nothing to do with any of this, and for that reason I do think they need to get involved to make clear that there is a difference. More importantly, they need to get involved with policing the local chapters to some degree. It should go without saying that you don’t hand out awards to people who have routinely shown themselves to be racist.
Shouldn’t the national NAACP first be meeting with the fucking venal, corrupt, money-grubbing LA NAACP to discuss the moral limits to shameful grifting? Clean house bit before inviting others into the smelly sty?
And you know what, Plucky? That even goes double if just you happen to be, of all parties, the NAACP!
LOL For shit’s sake, you’d think a NAACP chapter would be, oh I dunno, sensitive to issues of race and racism. SMDH
Rather than worry about the NBA’s brand, perhaps the NAACP ought to have a meeting amongst themselves to assess the damage to their own “brand” by taking cash in exchange for giving a stone-cold racist cover with a “Lifetime Achievement” award.
For fuck’s sake NAACP, clean up your own house first.
