He was told he needed to resign, sounds more like he was on the verge of being fired but I wouldn’t want to bet this would be a lesson to other outspoken bigots. He’ll feel better after November 2016 when he will perhaps have only a white woman to rag on.

Mittens threatened a hostile buyout of New Hampshire if Police Commissioner Robert Klansman Copeland had refused to resign.
He can also enjoy Limbaugh and Bundy making him out as a folk hero, typifying everything that’s gone wrong in America. Teahad/KKK may bring him,on radio and pen ballads about him – ideally more kleagles will get fired for tearfully singing along about his victimization.

Mitt does the right thing! I guess he’s not running for any Republican nominations these days.
Look for him to be booked for an interview on Hannity’s show so that he can rationalize his conduct and defend his “right to free speech” in … 3 … 2 … 1 …
He’ll become another “hero” to those on the right. Hannity won’t officially embrace him, but every other right wing nut and bigot will be outraged that someone who only spoke “his mind” was forced to lose his job. Never mind that racists would not want a black police commissioner who called white citizens crackers or stupid fucking rednecks.
