Vermont at least has an excuse…we’re the Whitest state in the union…but I think we at least manage to have some members of our Assembly who aren’t White…

I know we have several who are lesbian or gay though.

This is a good example of exactly what the media should be doing, calling out bigoted lawmakers and making sure the public knows who they are and what they did.

Leaving out the split voters, 5 out of the 55 bigots (9%) were women, whereas 12 out of the 29 of the pro-civil rights votes (41%) were women. Or, 71% of women were pro-civil rights, whereas 75% of men were bigots.

A pretty good argument for having more women in government.

I AM from North Dakota. In fact, this is my hometown paper. A minority in North Dakota means you are talking about someone Finnish. I kid you not. The only thing whiter than Nodaks are the bones of buffalo frozen to death on the prairie. I was 12 before I even SAW a black guy, As for shaming these folks…forget it. Not a single one will change his–well, I see they got themselves some women now–or her, vote.
