Discussion: N.C. Guv Blames Media For Backlash Against New Anti-Gay Law (VIDEO)

Yea we did it late at night so nobody would know about and then the damn media had to go tell everyone…it’s all their fault.

Oh BS…McCrory, this is ALL on you. You are NOT the ‘victim’ of the media. You thought you were SO smart that you could slide this in, discriminate specifically against gay people and no one would notice…except MAYBE that nasty media. No AH. This is you and your corporate sponsors. If you’re going to be a bigoted jerk at least OWN IT.

I keep thinking back to the arguments against gays in the military, where the bravest, strongest, truest fighting men in the history of the fucking world were supposedly cowering in fear because they were afraid that some other guys might be trying to take a peek at their dicks in the communal shower. LOL!

I must have missed the part where he defended the part of the bill that prohibits any city from raising the minimum wage.

A dumb, dumb statement for sure. Yes, he knows how most of it, at least, will work and that’s why he signed it.

His full-throated reply tells me however he’s quite scared of the shitstorm he’s created, and was surprised by the fast, widespread and severe criticism of him and his republiscum legislators. Now, he’s hoping this will quickly blow over.

Wrong! The storm hasn’t even reached full intensity yet.

No, not at all. Not even a little bit. Seriously, just no.

“Every city and every corporation has the exact same discrimination policy this week as they had two weeks ago,” he said in the press conference. (North Carolina’s Lying Republican Governor Pat McCroy)

Then why the need to halt municipalities from safeguarding their citizens as they see fit, Governor? A special session to ensure the right to discriminate is not abridged? You are a special kind of hate, sir. You deserve to die a long, drawn-out, lonely and painful death. I don’t wish it upon you, but you will know it.

The governor insisted that the new law has “not taken away any rights that currently existed in any city in North Carolina.”

Well, that’s a nice way for McCrony to talk out of the side of his mouth. It’s true, but only because in NC cities don’t have the right to pass local ordinances if the state legislature decides they’re icky.

Please proceed, governor, all the way to the exit in January.

The Governor of North Carolina and his GOP accomplices are bald-faced liars and sniveling cowards.

Look at how conservatives skewered Chief Justice Roberts after he backed two rulings in favor of the ACA, and you will have your answer.

Governor Duke Energy really is simple, or at least he thinks his adherents are. The media isn’t the “cause” of the backlash. The media just reported it.

There are few modern theaters, including the Kennedy Center in Washington DC that provide enough in the way of restroom facilities for women to make it through and get back to their seats before the intermission.

In more than on case, I’ve still been standing in an endless line while my ever patient husband stands with me, having attended to his business.

And in more than one instance, my ever patient husband, assisted by several other husbands of the ladies in line, noticing that the men’s is empty, have blockcaded it, standing guard.

I’m all in favor of “ambisexual” bathrooms, because once men are inconvenienced, all of this will change.

This is yet another iteration of a theme you see played out repeatedly in Republican political thought:

There’s nothing wrong with our policies, our actions or our candidates [1]; they’re just not being presented properly.

In this case, he’s blaming the media for simply doing their jobs, and everyone else for understanding perfectly well what he’s doing instead of being diverted by whatever spin his office PR puts out.
But it often takes the form of insisting that they can get a demographic who they regularly insult and legislatively hose to vote for them if they can just come up with the right campaign/marketing campaign [2].

Note the underlying contempt for voters’ intelligence: the concept that voters understand perfectly well what the GOP is doing but prefer something else, simply doesn’t occur to them.
And to be fair, their assumptions may be valid for the rank-and-file voters they generally meet–the Republican base.

[1] People often complain that Democratic politicians change their minds, follow the polls, etc.
I say that trying to make the government represent the will and needs of its citizens is the job of elected officials–and beats the hell out of clinging to thoroughly disproved economic dogma because it serves your biggest corporate donors, and then pretending that it has something to do with “principle.”
[2] Ex: “Women shouldn’t care if Republicans interfere with reproductive rights because Republicans can make it up to them on economic issues.”
Honey, anyone who doesn’t know that reproductive rights are an economic issue probably isn’t mature enough to be having sex.

Is McCrory scared of the backlash? Or does he not care about it?

Lets just blame all our personal failings and bad ideas on the media. Why not, it’s convenient. Like ordering stuff from Staples. Now we are all perfect and everything is the medias fault. That was easy.

Ah, poor Governor dumb*ss, blindsided at the end of the long day.

Some advice – perhaps if one doesn’t shove through sweeping legislation in the blink of an eye, all these “unintended” consequences could be uncovered beforehand.

So not sorry for his miserable plight. He should prepare to be blindsided often and deservedly.

I think we need ambi-sexual and ammo-sexual bathrooms, because once gun-toters are inconvenienced (small B-rooms for them), all this will change. Ha ha

So if nothing has changed, what was the reason for the new law again?

If only he and the GOP jerks could be forced to pay for the special session and the resulting litigation personally.
