Nice insurance you got there … it would be a real shame if something happened to it. </mobster>

Theoretically this is supposed to be getting at Democrats. What it’s doing is pissing off insurers.

I’m not sure playing coy here is a great strategy.

Molina Health’s CEO sent a very concise letter stating that, if the payments aren’t made, they will pull out of the market effective immediately, kicking 600,000 people off of their healthcare with no notice.

The insurance companies are far stronger and more powerful than PeePeeCo imagines and they will destroy him. And then the hospitals and providers will pile on. And then AARP will get their oldsters riles up.

He’s decided to sit his big fat ass on the fire ants mound and has no idea what’s coming…

Calling YOU to negotiate is not in the cards Mick. You are no longer a congresscritter.

These people have no shame, and no idea what they are doing. What is the point of withholding the payments at this point? Do they think it will influence Dems to support them? No, the Dems will let them set themselves on fire, then stand back and watch the conflagration.

In translation: we’re not letting these hostages go without getting ransomed.

Umm last time I checked the gop had enough of a majority in the house to get things done without the dems. So, isn’t his problem with the GOP that is currently ignoring him on the things he wants?

The president the people elected, not the one the Electoral College elected, gave an interview with Amanpour, demonstrated her continuing wisdom about all things presidential, including implying that Mr. Trump had not matched her preparation and governing through Twitter is unacceptable

Mrs. Clinton emphasized how thoroughly she had prepared to assume the presidency,

She said Mr. Trump appeared to be struggling to fulfill his campaign promises.

“Health care is complicated, and so is foreign policy and other stuff, Mrs. Clinton said, drawing laughter and applause from a supportive audience. “If it’s easy, it doesn’t get to the president’s desk.”

Did he dance around and wave his arms like he did a couple of weeks ago when talking about all the things he’d like to defund?

Thank you for the visual. Orange turns to inflamed red.

The point is to increase 2018 insurance premiums, by adding uncertainty to insurer calculations, without incurring the political cost of actually cancelling them. It’s undermining the ACA without overt sabotage.

If Dems had actually “won” the budget battle they would have got a CSR commitment into the legislative language. They need to fix this: better to force him to cancel the payments than to continue the threat month-by-month. (“force” means manipulate his fragile ego to do it)

“I haven’t made my viewpoint clear yet. I don’t want people to get
hurt….What I think should happen and will happen is the Democrats will
start calling me and negotiating.”

Wrong again. He lost on this last time but thinks doing it again is a good idea? Whatever happens Trump and his fellow Republicans own it.

Perhaps I’ve misread. Is “extortion” listed in the Constitution somewhere?

You can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good*. Given that they control nothing, I’d say the Democrats did pretty well with this budget.

*Doing just that is why President Clinton isn’t in office right now.
