Discussion: Mulvaney: Democrats Will 'Never' See Trump's Taxes

It’s the law, Mick. If the Chair wants the tax returns, he gets them.

Who will be this generation’s Daniel Ellsberg? Step up, please! Maybe do double duty and make the Mueller report available as well.

Mulvaney translates to ‘lickspittle’ in another language.

Well, at least he is upfront about the claim that the rule of law does not apply to the presidency.

Since the first article of impeachment against Nixon was that he “obstructed and impeded the administration of justice," I hope that the pivot to impeachment happens sooner rather than later.

According to tax expert and author David Cay Johnston:

“Do you think there is any way that the President can block the chairman of the Ways and Means committee’s request?” Cuomo asked.

“No,” Johnston said.

He elaborated.

“Under a 1924 anti-corruption law, the chairman of the Ways and Means committee, the Senate Finance Committee, or the employee of Congress who is the chief of staff for the joint committee on taxation all have a right to see this,” Johnston said.

Johnston suggested that the taxes might just be the tip of the iceberg, though.

“The law says the treasury secretary shall produce not just the tax return, but any tax return information,” he said. “That means if they have copies of the books and records of Donald Trump’s companies, transaction records, audit notices, many other things.”

Seems the law is pretty clear.

"No one will ever see Trump’s tax returns … ever. Because this is the most transparent and ethical administration in the history of the country. And he has absolutely nothing to hide. And since there is nothing to hide, there’s no reason to see them.

“Same with the full Mueller report, in case you’re wondering.”

When Trump sued Timothy O’Brien for libel for saying that Trump was worth only $250 million, O’Brien was allowed access to Trump’s tax returns, but is not allowed to discuss them publicly.

If congress were to subpoena O’Brien, would that prohibition remain in effect?

“Mick Mulvaney said Sunday that House Democrats will “never” get access to President Donald Trump’s tax returns”

Oh, really, Mick? Try saying those words while sitting before one the Democratic House investigative committees instead of some fluffing FoxNews host.

IOKIYAR is the new law of the land and supersedes the constitution. Just ask our new and improved judicial system and its public face, Boofin’ Bart.

He could tell what he saw under subpoena. The committees would then decide what to make public. In reality, O’Brien’s too far in the past to have current value other than establishing that Trump is a lying con man and I think we already have ample proof of that.

Yep. As with every other law they choose not to follow.

… because Trumpf has nothing to hide. Darn those pesky IRS auditors, tying his hands!

But they missed this quote of Mick’s: “But we do need to reopen investigations into Benghazi and her emails, because we don’t know the truth.”

Mick Mulvaney once again shows how little he cares about the laws of the US when they interfere with him getting what he wants, and what he wants is absolute power for Republicans. What he just said up there violates his oath to the Constitution, as the law is perfectly clear. If judges go along with this then our laws apparently don’t matter anymore if it means restraining Republican power…at that point we just may have crossed the Rubicon into dictatorship land.
