That’s right. The only time religious services should be interrupted should be when ICE is arresting Mexicans!
Barr will probably call a conference and tell America how Mueller claimed there was no collusion and no obstruction to the MSNBC reporter.
He’s 99% certain he’s going to testify in Congress. He’d be foolish to comment in advance.
Sorry, but this is an incredible invasion of privacy. It’s Easter Sunday for some of us. It’s a day to rejoice in something that is at the heart of our religion. It is not a time for this kind of nonsense and yes, it looked really bad.
There’re 364 other days in the year for this stupidity. Tomorrow is one of them, so is the day after tomorrow.
The day the news department became a profit center was the end of honest journalism in America. [/rant over]
The big question is, did the Muellers and the Barrs sit next to each other during services? That’s about the only reasonable question in this environment.
This was a shameful move by MSNBC. Mr. Mueller is a private citizen. Let him attend worship in peace.
And probably could not possibly do even if he had been asked. Many of us appear to have wanted a magic wand to make Trump simply go away, which was never going to happen. And I think that Mueller is capable of differentiating between his personal opinions of Trump, and what he thinks the laws that he was trying to follow actually are.
Now, the question is probably whether we are better off with a damaged candidate Trump (at least I hope he is damaged), or a new Republican candidate who is just as conservative but has not yet accumulated the same amount of baggage. (I suspect that is the calculation that the Democratic party is trying to make right now.)
It struck me as a dramatic but rather stupid stunt. Surely the “reporter” (I use the term lightly) fully realized that he wasn’t going to get a statement. It was a way of trying to make something that vaguely looked like news at a time when there really isn’t much news to air. This can be amusing when it is someone like Ted Cruz running away from questions about a bad vote that he made, but just crass to ambush Mueller for additional positions after he has just presented 400 pages of reporting (and we are still trying to get authorized persons to be allowed to see that report, unredacted).
Yes, it was an ambush. When the man says “No Comment”, you back off and leave him alone. You’ve got your answer. If you want to interview him, you ask for an appointment. If he tells you “No” or “No Comment” or does not respond to your request, then you don’t do an interview. Others in search of a scoop might have a different opinion, believing the public right to know trumps all, but I consider an invasion of privacy to be a serious concern, and that is what this looked like to me.
You will know if he will testify before Congress by his response to Congress if and when they ask, and then you can report on that. Considering Mueller’s record of public service, I would bet big money that if he is ASKED to testify before Congress, he will do so, and if he is subpoenaed to appear before Congress, he shall do so. Mueller plays by the book. If you read what he wrote in his report and you understand nuance, he very definitely wants Congress to do the right thing, and I think his report smacks of a plea for the Impeachment process to begin.
The trouble with Trump isn’t that he’s a conservative, but that he’s a traitor and a criminal.
I don’t vote for conservstives, but being conservative doesn’t disqualify you from being president.
I think “just as conservative” as Trump does, or should.
Barr’s the corrupt political player, has always been, Mueller’s most decidedly not a political player. His was a non-partisan appointment, but he has no obligation to talk to an opportunistic MSNBC journo while it’s Easter Sunday and he’s getting to live his life again.
Given the time and place, Mueller gave the correct response.
Yes, it was poor timing on the reporter’s part. But let’s be honest, there is no such thing as privacy any more.
The Democratic Party had better be focused on fielding their candidate to take on whatever candidate the GOP puts up.
And these times are so perilous, too.
Reckless, reckless people…or on a mission…
Mueller: “I’ll answer your question with a question. Haven’t you enough good sense to know that I would never comment about such matters standing in the street with you or anyone else?”
How big of a check would a network have to write Mueller for an exclusive sit down interview? How large an advance on a book deal? You know there have been offers.
Anything for a story? It was Easter Sunday and he wanted to go to church and MSN and bushes in at his place of warship? Seriously this is disturbing and disgusting. What’s wrong with you?
It was a real dick move by Viqueira and his boss and news director should chew him out for it, but I also found Mueller’s reaction to be a bit weird. He kept moving here and there like a frightened animal to avoid Viqueira, when he could have just turned to him and said something like “I understand that you have a lot of questions and that it’s your job to ask them but I hope you can understand that I’m neither able nor willing to answer them or discuss any such matters at the present time, and ask that you please respect my wife and me and leave us alone”. Class usually wins out over crassness. And Mueller has some recent experience with the latter, bigly.
