Discussion: Mueller ‘Not Satisfied’ With Trump’s Written Answers, Still Wants Interview

Subpoena his fat orange a$$.

ETA. Let’s find out if a president is above the law.

IANAL but this seems like something where Trump’s legal team should go down in flames making every possible argument and pulling out every possible stop. Answering questions on the fly is just game over for the dotard. It’s asking the man to walk into a jail cell willingly.

I’m not saying this is what I want to happen, by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it’s the only sensible move available to Trump’s team.

Mueller is playing from a position of strength. If Trump refuses to respond to a subpoena it’ll end up in the courts. Mueller will show the court the evidence he has to make a case he has probable cause to believe a crime(s) has been committed, by Trump. The onus on the court to grant Mueller his demands would lie heavy. This may not have been the case early in the investigation, but by now Mueller has so much stuff on Trump a court would be compelled to back him I think.

I think we’re getting into the kind of situation you’d have if a president shot someone. That DOJ rule wouldn’t apply any more. The president in question would be arrested, charged, and tried. That may be the equivalent of where we are.

This is another situation where Trump’s NPD makes him politically challenging to deal with. A normal person would interpret these reported statements attributable to Mueller (and for the record I don’t believe a single press report that claims to know anything as to what the OSC says or thinks) as an invitation to correct the record and avoid prosecution. Presumably, the reason Mueller would be unsatisfied with the written answers is because they’re false, incomplete or contradict other evidence in Mueller’s possession. That could put Trump in danger of being indicted for perjury or obstruction based on his answers (which are under oath so they’re basically akin to testimony). However, Trump understands that Mueller has a burden to clear both in terms of evidence to indict on such charges and also the barrier of presidential immunity from prosecution. Trump also understands that he has protection in the US Senate from impeachment/removal from office and can politically whip the conservative news media to make Democrats pay a price if the country views impeachment as ‘presidential harassment’ or ‘politically motivated’. Again, no normal person would take such an aggressive, lead with the chin type response. But that’s what NPD Trump does because such behavior is common to many with severe NPD symptoms.

My guess is that Mueller wants to be able to interview Trump, or to show that he made every effort to do so, to lend more legitimacy to his indictments and his report. I don’t think he needs to do that. I think he should just ‘indict the motherf***er’ and recommend that the House ‘impeach the motherf***er’. What this whole inquiry is all about is whether a President is above the law and above the oath of office itself. Trump has already violated the oath of office multiple times with his conflicts of interests, his self-dealing and his obeisance to Moscow at the expense of US national interests. We also know that Trump has likely committed multiple actual crimes, certainly many counts of obstruction. If we don’t nail Trump for this as a country, we have effectively stated that a POTUS is above all. That’s not what the framers intended. We have to make the push of our members of Congress and through public protests to make the constitution work for us.

For what it’s worth, Mr. Mueller, we’re not satisfied either.

Excellent analogy. There was a disturbance in the force this past weekend with the news that Trump confiscated interpreter’s notes and Manafort passed polling information on to Putin ally. There’s no innocent explanation for either of those actions.

Forget whether it is advisable to have DOJ guidelines protecting presidents from routine prosecutions. Surely such guidelines aren’t meant to protect a president who gained the office by corruptly collaborating with a foreign power?

One source familiar with the matter summed it up by saying, “Mueller is not satisfied.”
People familiar with the talks describe the two sides as at loggerheads, with no meaningful discussion about the issue in about five weeks.

So, this story is entirely from fuckface’s lawyers.
