The statement wasn’t lengthy or substantial. It was a bloody disgrace. He has let himself and his team down very badly.
I know he’s honorable and is doing what he believes to be the right thing, but his actions effectively make him a Republican tool.
We need to see Mueller speak and hear him answer the question. If his purpose today was to dissipate the public pressure for him to testify in person, he failed.
He simply has to be subpoenaed. His Report obviously doesn’t speak for itself, unless Barr has it right. It may be uncomfortable for him to appear, and he may not want to comment publicly on information that isn’t public, but he has to be asked questions.
His report is a tool for the Democrats in Congress. Will they use it?
Robert Mueller is failing his country through his refusal to speak frankly on this matter. Our system of government is collapsing. It’s sand through our fingers. Steve Bannon has accomplished his goal.
Mueller will testify before Congress. And if all he does is confirm what is in the Report, that will be powerful enough. In an ideal world, we would all have read and be conversant with the Report’s entire contents. As it is, we’ll need, as Othello says: “The ocular (and oral) proof.”
Yes indeed.
His report is a tool for the Democrats in Congress. Will they use it?
Demagogue fiction usually beats nuanced truth in politics, particularly when the Republicans wield it because they have a very successful propaganda outlet posing as a news media outlet.
“Any testimony from this office would not go beyond our report,”
You could also read that as refusing to testify.
But, but no one has seen the full report. Mueller says it’s all in the report he doesn’t need to testify or take questions. Where is the full report, Barr?
Is that a yes or a no?
Its a moot.
“You could also read that as refusing to testify.”
And you would be functionally illiterate.
Sorry buddy, your report may very well “speak for itself,” but the problem is that your boss and his boss are lying about it every day and twice on Sundays.
He’s very dedicated to process and institutions. He needs to recognize that the process has moved into a stage where his sensibilities don’t dictate what is appropriate.
Mueller is the ultimate Deep State assassin and genocidal maniac. Remember, he was instrumental in developing the torture used by Amerikkka now and forever more, and was head of CIA. He won’t ever do anything good or real, never has. How much more convincing does anyone need that Mueller is the worst of humans?
On the other hand, if Comey had followed guidelines and not implicated a person he had proven innocent, we would be in a different place today.
Mueller could have said:
"This has been a lengthy and complex investigation. The President could have answered all of our questions, he chose not to do so.
It is DoJ policy that a sitting President cannot be charged or indicted. In view of that and the many issues - outside the scope of the OSC - raised by the investigation, which I led to the best of my ability, I will make myself available to Congress, so that it can be as well informed as possible in discharging its responsibilities."
