Discussion: Mueller In His Own Words: Telling Quotes From The Taciturn Special Counsel

Get. The. Fucking. Report.

When you read those, you see how damming they really areā€¦thereā€™s no other way to interpret them, unless you leave off half the sentence like Barr did. The quiet from the Republican side is telling, they know this is damaging and are waiting to see the falloutā€¦and they probably realize that the spinning Barr tried to do has turned into a nakedly partisan act that heā€™s being ripped for. Itā€™s going to take a few days to see how this shakes out and how much impact it has on Trumpā€™s popularity with his baseā€¦they will put up a brave front initially, but these quotes will get through and eventually start to cause some doubt.

It really should be a slam dunk case, and the Republicans would be all over this if it was about, say, Obamaā€¦they should lose all credibility for defending Trumpā€™s actions the past two years, they let him get away with this behavior.

All one has to do is close oneā€™s eyesā€¦think about how much information damaging to Trump was released on March 24ā€¦and how much information was released today.

Khyber said a while back that we are going to have to up our political will. There is every reason to believe that the more information that comes out the more it will be found that GOP actors are compromised (like Senator Burr)

This is a good news day for our side. Yes I know people are still doubtfulā€¦but my fallback is that WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE FULL MUELLER REPORT

ā€œWe noted, among other things, that the President stated on more than 30 occasions that he does not ā€˜recallā€™ or ā€˜rememberā€™ or have an ā€˜independent recollectionā€™ of information called for by the questions.ā€

I noted, on the other hand, that the President stated on many occasions that he has ā€œone of the great memories of all time.ā€

ā€œThough they didnā€™t coordinate with Russia, the Trump campaign seemed at least emotionally supportive of its effortsā€ DAMN IT. The report doesnā€™t say they didnā€™t coordinate. It says we cannot prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. Also Mueller says Trumpā€™s people lied to him which hindered his investigation. If even TPM canā€™t get this right we are screwed.

ā€œThe Presidentā€™s efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful, but that is largely because the persons who surrounded the President declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests.ā€ (pg. 370)

Thatā€™s our president, as incompetent as he is corrupt.

Fake News. I saw an NPR article yesterday saying how Barr and Mueller were good friends so we should assume that Barr already told us everything we needed to know. It even quoted Lindsey Graham saying Democrats should be satisfied with Barrā€™s impartiality because of that friendship; and didnā€™t quote any Democrats disagreeing so it must be right.

Seriously, one of the biggest jokes of our modern media is how they honestly believe that personal friendships mean something, which is why they support liberal policies while liking Republicans better. If only Trump had played golf with Mueller he could have avoided all of this.

The lack of an investigation into Trumpā€™s finances both before and during his presidency makes this report a whitewash.

Hang it on Trump and every Senate Republican every day.

Mueller said Trump was not exonerated. What does that mean?

And why arenā€™t 9/11 conspiracy theorists all over this?

This is real government shenanigans.

A lot of the financial matters were handed off to other jurisdictions.

It will have zero effect on his base. They. Do. Not. Care.

Itā€™s sad but true. His die hard supporters are as morally bankrupt as their GropenFuhrer.

ā€œMr. President, rumor has it that in light of your total exoneration, NATO countries plan to use their intelligence resources to the benefit of the Democratic candidate in 2020. Do you plan to accept President Putinā€™s assistance again for the next campaign? And will you consider a more active role from Gulf nations and China in 2020?ā€

By definition, his die hard supporters are morally bankrupt and will not be affected. However, I think it is possible to shrink his supporters from 40-45% to 25-30%. It wonā€™t happen overnight, but it sure as hell wonā€™t happen unless we stick to it. In other words, there are a ton of folks who supported Trump who might be starting to regret that support and donā€™t want to be associated with his embrace of Russia and his contempt for the law and order. To put it bluntly, they donā€™t want to be associated with a loser and that is what Trump is starting to look like to them. It happened with Nixon who was guilty of far less than Trump. Iā€™ve said it before, his base didnā€™t show up to his inauguration which is a party, donā€™t overestimate their attachment and willingness to defend Trump (which is a fight) as the enormity of his criminality comes to light.

Are there enough 400 pound guys on beds in their parentsā€™ basements to mount a credible campaign? Asking for a friend.

after two years of investigation mueller has created a report that leaves the question of did tRump commit crimesā€¦up to nancy pelosi to decide through the process of impeachment an act we already know she will never pursue.

muellers work is obviously a white wash that served tRumps interests alone as there is under it NO WAY to actually hold him accountable since even if pelosi were to inpeach the trial would fail in the senate.

mueller skillful enough to give himself an outā€¦also was skillful enough to create a single path forward for democratsā€¦knowing they will never take it.

the rest going forward will only be about campaign donationsā€¦i receive about 7 emails a day asking for moneyā€¦while the democrats figure out ways to undermine progressivesā€¦bernie in particularā€¦while pushing corporate candidates willing to keep the status quo.

it seems clear that only a third party can bring any real change and that is where progressives should be putting all their monies and energy.

That is a lot of speculation.

  1. Never say never regarding the start of impeachment.
  2. Never say never regarding whether the Senate will impeach. All we know now is the conspiracy and obstruction evidence. There will be more from counter-intelligence sources and from financial investigations.
  3. Mueller did as much as he could given the rules he was operating under. See 1 and 2 regarding Democrats.
  4. Only about the donations seems a tad overstated.
  5. 3rd party? You want another 4 years of Trump? By all means work for progressive Dems in places where they have a chance to be elected; but if you want change, you want the House to stay Dem and the Senate to flip. Everything else is secondary.

Sure, failing to elect a third party candidate and instead handing Trump a second term is a surefire recipe for change, but you will not like the change you get. Or maybe you will.
