Discussion: Mueller Calls For Harsh Sentence In Manafort Case, Citing 'Gravity' Of Crimes

Whatever penalty Paul Manafort has to pay, it was worth it in the end for the privilege of wearing the ostrich skin jacket.

All in all, it marks a remarkable fall

He was and is a traitorous criminal, working with the scummiest folks around.
I don’t think getting caught counts as some tragic downfall.
Good riddance.

This cannot be over-stressed.

Last night Joy Reid asked both Jennifer Rubin and Charlie Sykes as to whether the GOP Senate would side with Trump on the Separation of Powers and Congress’ Power of the Purse.

Both bowed their heads and could not even hazard a guess as to whether they could fulfill their oath to the Constitution. During Ms. Reid’s interview, she showed a clip of Traitor Lindsey Graham professing fealty to Trump (quite comfortably).

ETA…and THIS is important…after the non-answer by Sykes and Rubin, Joy Reid was shaken…her characteristic smile a little more tense. The kind of tension which says, “My country is now in the balance between tyranny and Democracy”

I remember as soon as he appeared on the Trump scene (at the convention or just prior), Josh issued an “uh-oh this man is ONLY trouble” warning.

And soon after, Josh wrote a note that the only piece of the GOP platform Trump wanted to change was the piece about Russia and the Ukraine.

So this, like so many pieces of this tedious and malicious administration, feels like watching a train wreck visible for years in advance and wondering what we are seeing now that will feel this way in 2021.

Why did he lie after plea deal? I suspect to avoid being murdered.

all mentions of the Podesta group have been redacted in the memo.

what does this mean? That Mueller plans on indicting some people from that group? Or that they are in the clear/ cooperating with Mueller?

No, it’s because it’s what has worked thus far in his miserable, lucrative life.

I doubt at this point if he thinks anything was worth it, knowing the rest of your life is probably in jail. He did the acts and he and a few others we could name never got caught so thought the game was on forever. Rude awakening time.

Beginning with his work for Gerald Ford, Reagan, for whom he held major campaign positions, G.H.W. Bush and Dole, Manafort winds thru Republican presedential candidates with the likes of Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, Roger Stone and James A. Baker III. All share the stain of association, all used unsavory, racist tactics to win elections. This stain of unsavory tactics is not merely for Trump and the Ukranian and Russian thugs.

Wonder if Trump is smart enough to just let this one go without comment? He was his campaign manager. Pence is there because of Manafort.

… his deceit extended to misleading “tax preparers,
bookkeepers, banks, the Treasury Department, the Department of Justice
National Security Division, the FBI, the Special Counsel’s Office, the
grand jury, his own legal counsel, Members of Congress, and members of
the executive branch of the United States government.”

And a partridge in a pear tree.

So, no mention of Individual One. I can hear the cries of “no collusion.” Is Mueller setting a trap?

tRump was so disgusted that the Mueller investigation was ruining Manafort’s life. Can’t help but feel he must recognize a little similar criminality in himself and knows he’s not in a very good position.
