Discussion: MSNBC Host To Top Sanders Aide: Telling Fans He Can Still Win Is ‘Dishonest’

I’m surprised Jeff Weaver didn’t start screaming “Hillbot! Hillbot! Hillbot!”

Or is that only done online?

“CAN” covers a lot of territory–from unlikely but possible, all the way to asteroids hit the earth and the last surviving American supports Bernie.

“Look, nobody is going to get to the convention with the number of pledged delegates they need to win."

Translation: "Voters? Who cares about the voters? We’re so sure we’re the most honest, moral choice that we’re willing to use DC power brokers to overturn the rank and file vote.

“You know, because we’re the true progressives.”

Speaking of MSNBC I find that it’s really hard to watch Chris Hayes lately ,his show just seems to lurch toward a commercial break, and he seems to be doing his best Chris Matthews lately with talking over some of his guest. It seems as if he’s watching a clock.

Technically, Bernie can still win at the convention. Technically. So, technically, it is not dishonest to say that he can. But what is not reported here is whether Roberts pointed out that not long ago Bernie was saying that superdelegates should coalesce around the candidate who won the most delegates in caucuses and primaries. Changing positions–even hypocrisy–is common among politicians, but Bernie was taking a higher road, wasn’t he? (As Tom Landry used to say, “You gotta dance with who brung ya.”

Well, technically a smallish asteroid could strike the Republican convention when Trump is speaking as well.

(Day dreaming)

Oh, did I say that out loud?

Regarding the Berniacs, I really don’t think it matters at this point. A few months ago, if you went onto DailyKos (major left-wing swamp), you could find any number of comments by people who swore that they would continue to tithe even after Sanders lost. Because their $27 meant a revolution was underway.

No, really. I read a few of these and it was mindboggling how stupid it was. To them, small donations equals political revolution. :grimacing:

No, what’s dishonest is counting the pledged and super delegates in Hillary’s total after being told repeatedly not to by Little Debbie and others in the Democratic Party!

when there are only a little over 1,000 delegates left?

There are only 897 delegates left that are decided by primary contests. Not “over 1,000”.

And Sanders would have to win 589 of those 897 just to tie Clinton with regards to pledged delegates going into the convention.

By contrast Clinton only needs 309 of them to have the majority of pledged delegates going into the convention.

When it comes to total delegates, Clinton needs only 164 more to reach 2,383.

I think Democratic voters in the remaining contents can and should vote their conscience for their preferred candidate, but the math is what it is and nobody should be under any illusions that Sanders has a viable path to the nomination.

Yeah, technically it’s true that we could go to a brokered convention and I could win the nomination. Technically. Now, come on, y’all, send me those $27 donations. We can do this! We’re still in this thing.

See my post above. Your comment is devoid of substance.

You mean, besides Sanders supporters back when they were denouncing the idea of superdelegates deciding elections as being just slightly less evil than than the NSDAP?

Man the “bullshit machine” is working over time in this election cycle. Sad, but all the mouthpieces for all the campaigns are cut from the same cloth. Maybe they are praying Hillary gets indicted. We all see through these cheap tricks.

Super Delegates are high ranking DEMOCRATS !

Why would any of the them flip to Bernie Sanders ?

Meanwhile, the candidate who is, by any realistic measure, going to be the Democratic nominee is committed to building on the progress we have made since the disaster of the Bush years. Improving and expanding healthcare by creating a public option. Make the economy work better for the middle class and lower wage earners by increasing the min. wage, closing tax loopholes so the wealthy pay their fair share, protecting civil rights and protecting and expanding women’s healthcare, pushing to close the wage gap for women, continue to increase and push to transition off of fossil-fuels to clean renewables.

Bernie Sanders aside, you want to talk about dishonest, I just watched a black congressperson Ashley Bell.

Wow. In what universe does this man live.

Remember Weaver is into comix…and one of the comic books he sold to me actually HAD a small planetoid striking Hillary.

(but not before she, in deep repentant sorrow for being a Wall Street mule, handed all her delegates to Bernie)
