MSNBC Denies Report That Ronan Farrow Is On The Way Out

Which means he is.

I hate unnamed sources but I believe this one.

I donno…maybe it’s time to go back to actually covering the news instead of constantly analyzing it and talking about it. Maybe MSNBC could get a lot better ratings if 1) it was covered in every market (unlike FOX, MSNBC is not carried in a lot of markets), 2) they covered news throughout the day- maybe covering certain subjects like LGBT News, Racial Minority News, Women’s News, International News, etc during the day, and 3) limit the talk to 5pm and later.

That’s okay. I don’t even know who Ronan Farrow is.

If MSNBC is trying to catch the youth market, this is a terrible slot. The middle of the day? Aren’t these people working? Or studying? Or eating ice cream?

subzeroepsilon covered your first point in the BillO article here:
“I’ve asked this same question to Comcast, who incidentally also owns MSNBC. They told me that as part of their merger agreement with NBC/Universal, Comcast was to treat NBC-owned channels (e.g. CNBC, MSNBC, NBC Sports, Bravo, USA) as separate entities entitled to no special treatment with regard to carriage fees.
Here in Seattle, you need to have a higher-end digital package (Digital Starter) whereas Fox News can be had on the low-end Digital Economy.
Plus I have a sneaking suspicion that Comcast is not at all upset about this.”

Do people still watch cable TV?

Youth market? Isn’t the middle of the day a terrible slot to reach any significant demographic group?

I’d think the only groups available to watch during that time of day would be children, who aren’t interested, and geezers, who are napping while Fox runs in the background.

Me too. I like Ronan Farrow a lot. He’s smart, seems to be a genuinely nice guy, and he has Frank Sinatra’s face which just makes me really happy to see those eyes again. That said, his show is really boring. I’ve watched several times but I just find myself checking the time and wanting to FFwd to The Reid Report. Now, THAT’S a good show.

Last time I read that Ronan was toast, they got rid of Chris Jansing.

I actually think that’s the one thing MSNBC does quite well. Jose Diaz-Balart is all over immigration issues and those that specifically impact the Latino community. Joy Ann Reid and Tamron Hall are excellent at covering black and women’s issues. And, although I loathe her, Andrea “Greenspan” Mitchell covers international issues.

Last time I read that Ronan was toast, they exiled my girlfriend Chris Jansing to the White House.

That’s funny, as I was typing this post I realized I didn’t know what the hell happened to Chris Jansing. I really like her a lot. So, I guess they gave her Chuckles’ old job? It’s a pity they didn’t give her his new job.

Saw this kid on The Daily Show a while back and I have to say that I felt ever so slightly nauseated by him. I was back home soon after so I’ve never actually seen him so its possible I’m being unduly unkind.

Only tens of millions.

Perhaps they’re going for the pre-school demographic. In which case, they should have hired Bert and Ernie.

Wait – I thought he already was “way out”

Nope, you nailed it. I saw him on Real Time a few months back and he came across as smug, self-important and more than slightly effeminate. I disliked him immediately.

I don’t watch network TV at all. I have cable because I like Showtime sand HBO and so many other shows offered on cable. Other than the local news in the morning to find out what the weather is going to be like and some Sunday mornings to watch CBS News Sundy Morning, I never watch network channels.

I love Joy Reid. I wish she had an evening show. She is one very smart cookie and she’s a natural.

He’s a masterless samurai and Frank Sinatra’s son. Amazing, I know.

He’s a very smart kid without a doubt but (and I may be wrong) but he looks so young, it’s difficult to take him seriously
