Discussion: MSNBC Contributor Slams Network For Pro-Israel Coverage, Pulling Reporter Out Of Gaza

Discussion for article #225338

This is what is called “speaking truth to power”. How uncomfortable for Farrow to have to deal with it, I mean HIS CAREER IS ON THE LINE…say the wrong thing(the wrong thing being anything that isn’t 100% pro Israel), and you will never work in your chosen field EVER AGAIN.

““Point taken, but doesn’t it reveal equally our thinking that we now have Ayman Mohyeldin on air and I think there’s been very fair and balanced coverage?” he said.”

No, no it doesn’t. Because you put Ayman back, due to increased social pressure, doesn’t mean it’s fair and balanced coverage.

I guess she didn’t realize the 11 Commandment is, thou shall not criticize Israel.

At the risk of falling into the old GOP escape hatch of “both sides are bad” - coverage of the Israel/Palestine thing seems to have one thing in common. At least on BBC World Service they use their time on air not to answer journalists questions but deliver their own talking points

It’s like they have seen the worst part of our societal discussion and said “Hey, let’s emulate that!”

I don’t mind someone having a point of view, just be nice to have it “Countdown” style that is all the facts and news first - then let’s hear your thoughts and opinions.

She is 1000% correct. I support Israel & her right to defend herself but I don’t condone this foolishness. Israel is cool with the status quo. They don’t really want a 2 state solution since they are the ones on top in this situation. Palestinians are forced to live in unfathomable conditions & then when they fight back the only way they know how they are accused of being radical. Well…I for one am not believing the American propaganda. I’m sick sick sick of defending the indefensible!!

“Yes, thanks to social media, and thanks for the pushback from the public opinion,” Jebreal responded. “And I’m not saying that everybody is like this, but it’s one-tenth is given to the Palestinian voice and 99 percent of the Israelis voice. And that’s why the public opinion is pro-Israeli, which is the opposite in the rest of the world.”

A good evaluation tool for the self described, independent media in America.

Is it true that the pro Israel public opinion in the U.S. the opposite of most other countries, as Jebreal claims.

Good for Rula. The death tolls tell all the story. What’s the score today 500 bodies for Israel and 20 for Palestine? Uneven playing field portrayed as just another day in a dispute where each side is equally right or wrong.

Why do you hate him. He’s a decent guy but he is hamstrung just like the rest of the folks at MSNBC. There is only so much the hosts can say. I wish they could but I for one am happy we have a network that gives us a more liberal point of view. I wish it was different but it isn’

I’m sick of funding it. If Israel wants to continue to be yet another terrible ME country let them do it on their own dime.

No he didnt say MSNBC’s coverage was “fair and balanced”…lol

It’s funny but I watch Hayes and O’Donnell and have seen no pro-Israel coverage; it’s all focused on Palestinians and how many are dead. I haven’t heard one good word for Netanyahu. They did have Israeli officials on, and invited Hamas, but Hamas declined. So I’m not really certain what this woman is referring to.

Seriously, I have yet to hear from this reporter or any other one like her as to why its ok to use the Palestinians as human shields? Shields that are so expendable for the purpose of propaganda. There doesn’t seem to be the same level of outrage from them on this front. For that, she loses as much credibility as the ones she wants to cast the blame at. Answer that question and condemn that practice and you get the right to be taken seriously.

Self-righteous complaints about media bias proliferate whenever there’s a story of widespread interest. Fortunately, traditional media has a poor record of actually influencing opinion or galvanizing political will. Publicly fuming about slanted coverage is not didactic—it is commercialized performance art.

Welp, this is her last day on MSNBC after those in power punish her. Only chance of making back on MSNBC is on “Lock Up - Extended Stay.”
