Discussion: MoveOn To Sanders: ‘Undemocratic Superdelegates’ Can't Overturn Voters

geez, he didn’t even gain the actual power of the Presidency, just got a whiff of it, and now he refusing to bow out gracefully, his choice I guess

Pretty much the same way Warren nudged him the other day.

You have had your 15 minutes of fame, now it’s time to move on Bernie. You lost, Hillary got more votes, how is that undemocratic?

Sanders risks squandering the capital he’s gained with his run. He can play a role in the Clinton administration and nudge it to the left on certain policies. Or, he can piss away the goodwill and power he’s earned in this utterly futile and hypocritical quest to steal the nomination from Hillary.

It’s worth saying again… Hillary has supported the party and raised funds for candidates. Sanders has not. That matters, a lot. These superdelegates are not going to flip for Sanders. Why would they, what has he done for them? And what can he offer them that is better than what President Clinton can offer them?

He likes the chanting cult-like crowds and the money flowing in and the occasional jaunt to Rome on the private jet and the appearances on SNL. You think he wants to go back to being an ineffectual backbencher from Vermont?

It wasn’t really even that close. Hillary had it all but wrapped on March 15th (Super Tuesday), and if there were any doubts, when he got blown out in the Northeast April 19th.

Getting 55% of the votes is usually considered a landslide.

Sanders’ campaign has become what he ran against out the outset of the primary season, looking to unelected special interests to go against the will of the people.

Since he is feeling his own Bern, I guess we could hand him a glass of ice water.

he could be practical and negotiate a role for himself in Hillary’s administration in return for his endorsement and campaigning for her, just as Hills did with Obama.

Or, he can tilt at windmills. That’s the problem with starry-eyed idealists; they often end up sacrificing the good for the sake of the perfect.

If he’s still campaigning – where are the tax returns?
Didn’t they promise to produce them after California?

Well said.

I’m fine with giving a few days of leeway, but if he doesn’t concede after DC, then he’s going to grow from a competitive irritant into a giant festering boil. He’s pssiing off even his few supporters in Congress— who can do such things as pull him from committees and, if he remains a Democrat the way he said he would (spoiler alert: he won’t) and work to find a candidate to primary him in 2018.

The story of Bernie’s career is that he doesn’t play unless he gets everything he wants. This is why he has no legislation to his credit. He’s known as the amendment king…for good or bad. I have a hard time believing he’s gonna whole-heartedly change his entire approach to politics and jump in and support HRC and the DNC. I seem him yelling at the lawn to an ever decreasing audience…and fading away into oblivion.

I read the piece earlier…Sargent was parading it around as proof that Bernie is “getting closer” to leaving.

“Gently nudging” is a huge overstatement. The actual release is advocating for Bernie to stay in through DC,and to continue to fight at the convention. They are just acknowledging the reality…finally…that Bernie won’t be the nominee. But he should still stay in a fight. Because Windmills!!!

They promised to produce them BEFORE NY. In a nationally televised debate.

And they never will. Because keeping promises is for corporate whores.

BernieBros are gonna be tired from directing their misogynist tweets in all directions today. A little sympathy please.

It’s interesting that Sanders is becoming the Democratic version of Trump. He won’t change his ways and refuses to play by the party’s rules. His supporters are becoming the D party – rabidly following the idealogue and screw the greater good. Full of conspiracy theories and easily proven falsehoods (I heard one today – they believe the State Department checks ANY primary where the exit poll has a 2% difference from the actual results. Because that PROVES VOTER FRAUD!!!1!)

Face first, while holding his head under for a few minutes to ensure he drinks his fill? And repeat it every few minutes just be positive that he isn’t on fire anymore?
