Because clearly she wasn’t promoted based on her resume and experience. I mean, she’s a woman, so she couldn’t have been, right?
And clearly, that Secret Service agent at the door couldn’t have taken down either of these big tough he-men. A five foot eight man, sure, because he’s equipped with the single most important weapon in a hand to hand combat situation–a penis and dangly nut sack that incapacitates him if hit with surprisingly little force. Nothing better to have in a fight.

This show is just awful. Joe should be more concerned with the ratings. I’m very happy that all of MSNBC’s ratings are down to their lowest since 2007. I suspect that his show is one of the network’s worst! He needs to be taken off the air.

I just cannot comprehend how Mika sits there on a daily basis - one doesn’t have to be a “feminazi” to be offended by the constant assumption that all women are the same, that they are hired and promoted because of their gender, and that their gender overrides all of their other characteristics.

ETA I’m certain these agents go through rigorous training for their job. But that doesn’t matter I guess, because they are females. And men have never ever been tackled by a perp. EVER.

How the hell does Donny Deutsch know Pierson wasn’t promoted because of her qualifications? He is just pulling an assumption out of his ass.
My guess is, after all the recent screw ups, her time at the Secret Service is going to end real soon. She will be treated just like a male director.

Because there seems to be an idea that anyone that is not a White male got their jobs (or schooling) due to affirmative action or political correctness.
Happens when they are Black, Hispanic or a woman, etc. People in this group are not really qualified; they were just handed a job, no questions asked.
Hell, it was not too long ago a troll poster here was saying Obama’s professors gave him A’s only because of his color. That’s the type of mentality we are dealing with.

What we are seeing is a serious devolution in the right wing talking point mechanisms. Joe is trying to build off of the crap Ingrham was spouting yesterday, but you can tell they are trying to develop the meme on the fly…its not coordinated in the background as it used to be. One thing republicans were good at was message discipline. Now they are winging it.
Its not a gender thing, but there are serious issues going on within the Secret Service that should have everyone deeply concerned.

I hate Laura and Joe, as I hate most Repug talking heads.
But in this case, I fear they have a point. Simply put, the agents that protect the President and the White House should have to pass the same physical combat and fitness standards as our elite combat infantry, i.e., Delta, Seals, etc. There should be no room for debate on this - they should be able to defeat nearly any foe hand to hand, as well as being expert shots with pistol and rifle. We use mercs, er, ex-military contractors to guard our Embassies and other foreign offices in dangerous areas - is it too much to expect the same level of lethality and fitness of the agents protecting the White House?
And let’s be clear - there are no female Seals or Deltas, for the simple reason that there are very, very few women that could make the grade physically. There are very few 200 pound women that are very fit, whereas most special military units are full of men of that stature. And when it comes to close order combat, size DOES matter, especially if the perp is more interested in not stopping and has to be dragged down, rather than fighting you.
The agents protecting the President should be the finest examples of human combat readiness, preferably coupled with combat experience, coupled with a high level of mental acuity. And yes, if we have to pay more for them, then let’s get out the checkbook.
We have Rangers, Seals, Airborne, Deltas and more that have come back from combat and cannot all find good employment when they are mustered out of the forces. It should not be hard to find suitable candidates physically, mentally and emotionally fit from this pool of talent, as it is fairly large. In the age of terrorism abroad and increasingly at home, why we entrust the protection of the President to anyone OTHER than such people is beyond me…and in this case, a Repug talking head has it right.
