Discussion for article #234251
Too bad Willie Geist (the MSNBC counterpart to Fox’s Brian Kilmeade) looks like a frat boy on campus getting his first diversity training lesson.
Of course. Isent Joe an email this morning telling that it was blatantly apparent that he brought in the African-American guys to try to cover his ass to make up for his and Mika’s insanity yesterday. He couldn’t have cared less about what they had to say, he only invited them for what he perceived as positive optics. Once a slime, always a slime, Joe.
OMG, conversation! Exactly what cable needs, more off point blab by (gasp!) two races of men, oh, and Mika.
But for the rest of us two points, I bet, not discussed:
a) How old and geographically diverse is the chant?
b) How is the chant taught/passed on?
Dang!
They went from Hee Haw to Soul Train in 24 hours.
So did Mika speak today, or go back to her deaf mute routine?
Proper journalism would be to bring both sides in at the same time and have intelligent debate between them. Oh, I forgot, intelligent debate does not sell.
And not a one of them followed through on a no doubt irresistible urge to beat the ever-loving s*** out of JoeScar.
Wow diversity on a cable news panel, what a novel concept! It looks like the morning crew may be learning something from their evening and weekend counterparts.
Most ironic (and revealing) was Joe warning Mika to “be careful” when she started to raise the “separate conversation” theme.
Her nodding towards Joe and the other panelists was even more sincere during this segment.
Hear Hear!!
I like her better when she’s a deaf mute
Don’t watch Morning Joe,I like to keep down what breakfast I do eat,But evidently he felt the heat.switchboards were probably jammed along with the outrage on twitter and the stations email serve probably crashed. But fear not Kristol will be on some bodys Sunday show spewing his garbage.
the chant is at least a half century old, ubiquitous enough to have shown up in North Dakota, not exclusive to SAE, and–take note Bill Kristol–there is at least one version that also references Jews. Yes, I am a seasoned citizen, and, no, I never forgot.
What excuse does Mr. Kristol have for the use of the word nigger by Whites before the advent of Rap? Is it possible the reason they used it then is the reason they use it now?
Scarborough is a White guy. As much as he’d like to and as much as folks would like to think he can…he cannot speak of the Black experience. Joe has never lived a live in which the color of his skin is a daily concern. He never went to a job interview nervous over his skin color or endured subtle hostility at a restaurant or store. Joe doesn’t know what he is talking about. he hasn’t been there. He hasn’t done that and he sure as hell does not have the tee shirt.
But he’s got some black friends somewhere! So that makes it allll OK.
BS Alert…
I saw the entire segment…Joe told them not to bring up the blaming rap music .
Rev Al…said " I am going to break the rule Joe said to not bring up the Rap Music Analogy."
Many years ago, Fran Liebowitz wrote a great, short piece in Vanity Fair about the fallacy of the “Atticus Finch” approach - trying to walk in the other person’s shoes. Her very valid point was yours - you cannot begin to grasp the lived experience of blacks or any minority as a white - and especially white christian I would add.
What she did say you could do was step back and critically think what it means to be white in America - what are those things you can do without question that simply aren’t challenged because of your race.
BTW, I can imagine there were some pretty intense conversations around MSNBC yesterday - look how quicky Mika jumped on the Cycle. And I can only hope it will be a long time before they feel the need to give Fox News conributor Bill Kristol any airtime. Hopefully never.
Wonder what Prescott chanted while snatching Geronimo’s skull?
