Discussion for article #240860

Its what they’ve been told for years. And they’re fucking stupid, fearful sheeple. Perfect.

I really wish they would follow up with, how? I imagine the sound of crickets would be deafening.

As horrifyingly stupid as that is, I’m much more concerned by:

Thirty percent of GOP voters surveyed said the religion of Islam should be illegal.

whereas

“More Than Two-Thirds Of Iowa GOPers Say Obama Is Waging War On Christianity”

Which is it, TPM? Or maybe that’s a distinction without a difference?

Oh, no. Big difference; Iowa is a swing state, that swung toward Obama last 2 elections. Iowans, in general, do not know these “Iowa GOP voters” but believes they must be under some rock someplace.

These people are so ignorant.I think they are lucky to reach a100 IQ.

Frankly I won’t believe it until he starts launching Tomahawk missiles. Until then it’s a cruel dream, taunting me as I lay in the dark.

I was JUST about to post, “based on what?” but then I realized they’d just regurgitate whatever O’Reilly told them was true.

Iowa - the proving grounds for the dumbing down and increasing Gawd-fearers yields desired results.

So, 30% of Republicans in Iowa don’t believe in the Constitution? I bet they think they are fervent supporters of the Constitution too, in spite of wanting to tear it up to create their theocracy.

Some perspective:

  1. Just over 3.1 million people live in Iowa.

  2. The website of the secretary of state for Iowa shows that as of the end of August, there were not even 520,000 total registered voters, of ALL parties plus independents.

  3. The same website shows that of those ~520k, just over 133,000 are registered as Republicans.

  4. The National Institute of Mental Health estimates the prevalence of mental illnesses of all manners, sorts and incidence in the U.S. for the year ending 2014 was 18.5% of the adult population over the age of 18.

  5. Two thirds of 133,000 adult voters would total no more than 90,000.

  6. Just over 75% of Iowans are adults over 18, for a total of about 2,325 million.

  7. Assuming the NIMH prevalence figure for the U.S. basically holds in Iowa, during this calendar year we can reasonably expect over 400,000 Iowas to manifest some behavior that qualifies as mental illness.

  8. Based on the poll this article is about, the projected number of adult registered Republican Iowans who would tell a pollster they ‘believe’ Obama is ‘waging a war on Christianity’ would be just over 20% of the number of adult Iowans who by end 2015 will have manifested some behavior that qualifies as mental illness.

Yeah, they’re probably just nuts.

So Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) is an anomaly?

So, a sizable number of wingers who say they worship the Constitution, want to make Islam illegal right here in Amerika.

ernst + stephen king = no friggin anomaly.

Well, (1) she came on the heels of the very progressive Sen. Harkin—who retired, was never defeated; Rep. Braley ran a very poor campaign; and (3) she won in an off-year election when Democrats just don’t turn out. So, I think she is an anomaly, and she is working hard, right now, to be the Far Right’s new Palin—so, she will be damaged when she faces election in 5 years.
