Discussion: More GOPers Steadily Pile On Trump For Attacking Khan Family

Too little, too late, GOP.
YOU MADE THIS!
YOU OWN THIS!

I’m still waiting for them to stop triangulating between their radical base and the morally correct position.

Ryan and McConnell are moral cowards. Too intimidated by their base to unendorse Trump. It’s the only morally defensible position and not doing it speaks volumes about their character.

We already know who Trump is. Now, we’re learning who Ryan/McConnell are, only they don’t seem to realize it.

No one should criticize grieving parents who have lost a son in combat. Capt. Khan was an American hero.

Craven cowardice. “No one?” It’s ONE PERSON. Your nominee. Donald J Trump. Take your clever language and shove it, Senator. Your nominee is a monster. A low, disgusting monster. As my uncle used to say, “You lay down with dogs, you get fleas.” You got fleas something bad, Senator. You and everybody in your party that doesn’t abandon this putrid excuse for a human being.

And, yet, these assholes still support him! Roger Stone suggested that Mr. Kahn was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, WTF! Stone should never appear on CNN or any other broadcast network again!

The upcoming Republican Autopsy Report is going to be sizzling.

And, it will be as worthless as the last one!

These are good starts. But how many of these people are still supporting Trump? That’s how you separate the wheat from the chaff.

Regarding Rep. Barbara Comstock’s comment, she was one of those who specifically said she needed Trump to win her over following some misogynistic comments he made. Yet despite her tweet today, I fully expect her to support Trump because…not Hillary. And she wants her Teabagger friends to support her.

As a guy that was born and raised in Maine, that’s kind of how I think of Republican senators who don’t just come out and say they will not vote for this guy, Trump. Maine is a fiercely independent state, with lots of crazies and lots of people with less than a high school education, (mostly white, yeah). To be fair, Senator Collins once in a while says things with a backbone, but this time she blew it.

" If you’re going to be the leader of the free world, you have to be able to accept criticism. Mr. Trump can’t. The problem is, ‘unacceptable’ doesn’t even begin to describe it."

…AND Ms Scarlett? AND?

But they’re all still supporting Trump, so this is meaningless.

Sen.Graham: “This is going to a place where we’ve never gone before, to push back against the families of the fallen.”

Except, of course, when Republicans mocked 9/11 widows.
Or Gold Star mother Cindy Sheehan.
Or the family of Tomas Young.

Nope, never ever gone there before.

(Can you actually hear my eyes roll?)

All of these GOP responses miss the point. Trump shouldn’t be in a pissing match with a private citizen who criticized him. Presidents will be criticized harshly on all manner of things. If you can’t take it, you don’t have the temperament and self-control to be president.

Person after person took the RNC stage and attacked Hillary and she never responded.

Either they dump Trump or not. That’s the only question they must answer. Issuing pretty statements while continuing to embrace the narcissistic fascist sociopath as their STANDARD BEARER does not mean any shit.

" ‘I reject that and I’m disappointed that he would say that,’(Sen. Sessions) told CNN."

“…But I’d continue to support him if video surfaced of Trump shooting someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue or raping a twelve year old,” Sessions continued.

Not so much. It will be the same as the last one. They weren’t conservative enough.

…or what Senate candidate Saxby “chicken hawk” Chambliss did to triple amputee and war hero Max Cleland in 2002.

I am in agreement with Greg Sargent, who said this morning:

If individual Republicans don’t break off their support for Trump’s candidacy now — by, say, withdrawing their endorsements — they run the risk of having no choice but to do so after Trump sinks even further into wretchedness and depravity, to a point of true no return. (Presumably there is such a point.) At that juncture, their move will look unprincipled and desperate, leaving them stained — perhaps irrevocably — with their previous willingness to stick by him during much of his descent, and depriving their break with him of whatever moral force it might have had if done earlier.

It’s really now or never, guys and galls. The sickening manner in which tools like Ryan and McConnell criticize the specific remarks but maintain support for Trump’s candidacy is a craven attempt to thread the needle between statesmanship and party loyalty. This is exposing the entire GOP orthodoxy for the sham outfit it has become. It’s more of a crime syndicate than a principled political organization.
