I’m happy to concede the point. I was running on the politics of my folks who were republican. And that would be more than 40 years ago. My first awareness of a President was Eisenhower. I once got to see him slowly drive by at very close range. He even made eye contact with us as a family (I was probably 7 or 8 yrs old at the time).

In that same era my family and I flew from our farm to visit my grandpa in Phoenix. Adlai Stevenson was on the leg from Cincinnati to St Louis (we were on a DC-3 prop plane) and I got to sit next to him. That was very very interesting to me at the time because I knew who he was.

Roy Moore can’t pay for a recount. There is no provision for Federal Office. The only automatic if the vote is within .5 %.
Sections 17-16-21 and 17-16-40 of the Code of Alabama stipulate that any candidate for the offices listed below may petition for a recount, even if the margin of victory falls outside the 0.5 percent trigger point for an automatic recount. The candidate requesting the recount is responsible for paying all costs of the recount. The time period for requesting a recount begins “with the production of the certificate of result and ends 48 hours after the official canvass of county returns.”[2][3]

He and the Missus already have that going on. It’s called the Foundation For Moral Law, which pays him an annual salary of $180,000; it also drew up a promissory note for years where fundraising fell short of that mark. The note also entitled Moore to a $565,000 stake in the foundation’s headquarters on Dexter Avenue in Montgomery, which would allow Moore to recoup the money by selling the building.
The arrangement was first reported by the Washington Post in October.

Thank goodness, the people of Alabama recognized this and didn’t send this piece of work to the United States Senate.

He’s desperately waiting for God to step in and make him the winner. Well, of COURSE God would do that. Give him time! God is busy with lots of stuff. Moore prostrates himself to his god (when he isn’t prostrating himself to young girls), and so expects reciprocity.

Without all that hate Moore is just an empty desiccated husk of worthless skin with some crumbling calcium deprived bones keeping it’s general shape.
I feel sorry for his wife while this death spiral of Moore’s plays out though, Despite her sense of entitlement she’s going to live a real nightmare while his demons do their thing.

Back in the waning days of Bill Clinton (1998), i once registered a black woman to vote. She lived alone in her own home. She was old, but i didn’t know how old. To help her complete the registration form, I asked her the questions, and filled in the blanks. The last two questions, however, caught me way off guard. The next to the last question was birthday, so i said, “Birthday?” Her reply was May 23, 1894. Jeebus! She was 104 years old! Her parents were Exodusters from Tennessee in the 1880s. The very last question was Party affiliation. I explained that it was not mandatory to choose one party or the other, but she very proudly declared “Republican!” So, i checked that box. It wasn’t until the next hour or so after i had left that t dawned on me, the Party of Lincoln. Registering this woman to vote was one of the proudest moments of my life.
