Discussion: Moore Joked That Trump's Election Kicked 'Black Family Out Of Public Housing'

Trump’s prospective Federal Reserve Board pick Stephen Moore once joked that [Trump’s] election booted “a black family out of public housing,” just the latest in a long string of damaging comments.

“I just love that one,” Moore said at the time in 2016, laughing. “It’s a great one.”

And “Firing Line” was the perfect place to air his little bon mots.

William F. Buckley would surely have approved.

Sexism and racism! Moore is just one anti-semetic quote away from a bigot hat trick.

Well, first it’s not a joke. Second, the guy is so damned dumb that he keeps digging his own hole. This is a guy we want on the Fed???

Funny! Hilarious! Joke genius Stephen Moore keeps producing jokes that nobody gets!

Fundamentally the guy is a hired circus clown spokesman for the Rightwing ThinkTankers too shy to spout repeated nonsense (economical or otherwise) on propaganda tv. Even he admits it here. Over time, tv provokes the desire to be an entertainer and it creeps into one’s formerly sober act. Then the actual goon reveals himself, and eventually some truth comes out, including this realization: "Then I probably won’t get on the Federal Reserve Board.”

This clown doesn’t need a shovel to keep digging.

ETA. I see benthere beat me to the metaphor.

"And I say things that are kind of jokes that give me plausible deniability when I reveal my true beliefs. If people want to pick them apart, then I probably won’t get on the Federal Reserve Board,” but my gig on Fox pays better so it’s no loss.

This guy is a real life, walking, talking shit show. I pray to dog that he doesn’t and the administration doesn’t rescind his nomination. I would like nothing more than to see this guy make a complete and total monumental dingle berry filled ass of himself at the hearing in front of the whole nation. Now THAT is must see teevee.

What it also means is that white trash moved into the same public housing previously occupied by a classy black family that was moving up to better things.

Dig a hole deeper? Shoot himself in the foot? Moore needs to climb back up the a**hole where he came from. He and his kind. It may make the world a slightly less hateful place during this time of the squatter’s toxic presence in our White House.

White Trash that refuses to certify its Income Eligibility for Public or Subsidized Housing.

But Moore’s best friend is black…

Actually, about 38% of the electorate is rolling on the floor over this “joke”.

Deplorable…

Hmmm. I read in the news yesterday that Sen. Tim Scott is still on the fence about this great FOX TV GOP economist. Hmmm.

And you know what kind of hats they throw on the ice for that one, right?

I’d like to see him asked some economics questions. Basic ones, to see if he even qualifies as an economist. Like, what do you think about applicability of Keynesian theory to our current economic situation? These guys always get softball questions, even on something like Firing Line.

So… he said this on PBS? On PBS. Not on Fox. Not on right-wing outrage radio.

It just shows that 1) they’re stupid, and 2) they really are as racist as the things they say make them see.

Moore does a really bad job playing comic. A lot of humor as most comedians can attest is based on life experience and pain.
My Caucasian self spent the first couple of years of my life living in public housing. We lived there until my folks got job transfers to the suburbs. You know the kind of economic mobility that existed before Moores supply side theories took hold.
It would surprise or bemuse Moore the complex like many was quite ethnically mixed with a solid tenant organization.
As far as his support for the DC school voucher program is concerned sure a few kids went to Sidwell but somehow Farrakhan and the NOI received some for their religious academy. Wonder if he’s ok with that?

If Moore thinks he’s so funny, with his lifelong history of jokes. I encourage him to quit his day job and go on the late-night comedy club circuit.
