Sad to say it likely doesn’t matter what the Tibbetts family wants… What the Republicans see here is an opportunity and they are going to jump on it. Has anyone seen condemnations from:
- Trump
- McConnell
- Ryan
- De Santis
- Cruz
And a whole bunch more
To have such profound grief and loss used by trump to justify ripping families apart at the border, while no longer surprising, further rends the soul of this injured nation. Mollie’s Dad expresses this with an eloquence that is truly awe inspiring.
I am afraid that his family will end up fodder for Alex jones’ minions like the Sandy Hook families.
Good on you dad. These scum want to make your beloved daughter’s death a rallying cry? Fine. Make it a rallying cry against their vile, racist agenda and for the love and open arms your daughter embraced this glorious, diverse, inclusive democracy with. Let the memory of Mollie’s love shine SO bright that the Dotard shuts his trap and these scum have no choice but to scurry back under their rocks.
You GO, sir!
…they’re Iowans with better food.
Made my morning.
An eloquence sorely missing from the illegitimately elected President of the United States.
despicable doesn’t begin to describe those who would heap further pain on the heart-broken family of a murdered child - hell needs a deeper sub-basement for them
I find it interesting that Don Jr. jumps into places he doesn’t belong. Maybe that blind trust thingy isn’t as strong as we were led to believe? s/
The Tibbets family is bravely fighting tooth and nail to keep what’s theirs. This kind of politics is all the GOP has left and it is all they have ever had.
“The Hispanic community are Iowans,” Rob Tibbetts said a week ago. “They have the same values as Iowans. As far as I’m concerned, they’re Iowans with better food.”
Principle in the face of tragedy, just flat out inspiring.
There is no depth of inhumanity, no detail of depravity, that is beyond the contemporary GOP–voters and politicians alike. To steal this family’s private loss from them and resell it as a product of hatred is beyond imagining–but as @left_in_washington_state points out, this is a movement that exploited the Sandy Hook dead.
I’m not sure that I understand this phenomenon or whose fault it is or what can be done about it. We have a morally and spiritually benighted portion of the American white population that constitutes at least 25% of the nation. I’ve pooh-poohed the term ‘evil’ all of my life as a kind of primitive nonsense–but how else to describe conduct that is straight out of a horror tale? This country is deeply, historically rotten and a large part of it has never recovered from its origins as a society built on mass slavery and mass cruelty. It’s no good pointing at 1930s Germany either, because that evil regime and its propagandists were taking advantage of a population utterly traumatized by the complete and sudden transformation of their country from a world power into a failed state characterized by mass unemployment, mass poverty, economic and social collapse. Nothing of the kind has occurred here. The USA is arguably as prosperous as at any time in its history, despite the record inequality. The only thing I can think of, by way of an overarching explanation, is that American masses are extraordinarily ignorant (of history, of the world beyond their borders, of rationality) and unusually susceptible to spiritual gullibility and superstitious beliefs. The evangelical movement and a hyper-materialist culture has ensured this. A massively stupid, dumbed-down population at some point becomes dangerous to itself–becomes evil. We’ve reached that point.
The Hispanic community in Iowa are Iowans who carry on living the American Dream.
If you haven’t read baby Donnie’s screed you should.
It’s real piece of shit and reeks of Trump’s selfishness. It’s so bad the editorial folks at the Register interrupted it twice with fact checks. If he just said Fuck Molly it would have been more sensitive. It has to be one of the most craven things I’ve read and so much so I think it’s going to go over all wrong even in very conservative Iowa.
He’s a hell of a guy. But by definition you can’t shame the shameless. They’ll take this family’s grief and use it as coldly and free of compunction as if it were a can opener.
Thanks but hard pass. Pretty much have my mind made up on whether he’s a punk or not.
I really admire this man and his family.
This kind of selectivity practiced by Trump and his fellow anti-immigration buffoons, in commenting only on murders that involve immigrants or people of color, is especially evil. It is a loathsome tactic meant to incite hatred and fear in people of lower intelligence. It poisons the public discourse and stymies all attempts at discussion, compromise and resolution.
What the GOP has birthed in Trump and the current crop of far right racists is dismaying - what these guys are creating in the next generation is terrifying. It will not die out until Americans give them a resounding no at the polls and at the marketplace. I am not sure that, as a country, we are quite up to the task.
clearly, jr. is gearing up for a life in politics - he is apparently very popular as a speaker among certain groups - and the tRump cultists are happy to support a second generation of the family scum destroying American values
By all means they should book him while he’s available. Might become one of those limited-time offers.
I live in hope that Amerika will come to its senses and wash the stain of this family away once and for all after they are all indicted, sentenced, and spend some time in in the Big House.
Yup, they will ignore the father. Wont even show his response to most republicans and keep using her death to push their racism.
