Discussion: MO House Launches Greitens Probe, Prosecutors Say More Charges Possible

I guess there are right and wrong ways of being a jerk and Greitens is the of the wrong type, because what he has done is no worse than what other republicans including trump have done. And Trump is a huge jerk. Greitens must be a jerk that rubs republicans the wrong way and that’s why they are the ones piling one him. Stick a fork on him…

He ran against “Establishment Republicans” and since then has made little attempt to mend fences. He’s made this bed, um, so to speak.

Greitens’ team previously filed a motion to dismiss the case, saying the statute applied to peeping toms rather than adults engaging in a consensual sexual encounter.

Breaking new ground in IOKIYAR Theory and Practical Application.

Republicans have become defenders of Russian agent, mass shooters, child sex stalkers…

Absolute power corrupts.

Every republican candidate in the state is going to have to weigh in on this one. Can’t wait. Meanwhile, I wonder whether his lawyers actually believe any of these arguments or are just doing the best with the hand they were dealt and the defendant’s money. (Or is it the taxpayers’ money?)

Also wonder what some of the other charges might be. “Unrelated” suggests perhaps something that was found while investigating BasementGate.

I even heard a reporter for the Kansas City Star level the worst possible charge against Greitens. It seems he is a former Democrat. Talk about a dog pile.

Give that man a cigar. Six years ago Claire McCaskill won the election lottery when the Republicans nominated Todd Akin, Mr. Legitimate Rape himself. Women all over the state were eager to show their displeasure and Claire was easily reelected.

This Greitens scandal threatens to tip the balance for McCaskill and help deliver the Senate to the Democrats. McCaskill was recently aided when Roy Moore endorsed Courtland Sykes the well known militant misogynist in his run for the Republican nomination.

Do I like adulterers? no, but it happens, and you can make decent political decisions even if you cheat on your spouse. It’s the blackmail I object to - that’s pretty low, and indicative of a guy who gets off on power - and not confining that urge to his sex life.

You know, like you I can forgive people who are married and have a relationship with someone else. I would have forgiven John Edwards.

But like you, it’s the accompanying circumstances and actions that really tell me the story about someone’s character. John Edwards could not be more of a coward and a cad - he hid behind the skirts of the woman he wronged and it made me sick.

I wouldn’t give a shit about Elliot Spitzer paying hookers, except he was AG at the time and responsible for enforcing the laws against prostitution.

It’s not the sex - it’s always the way they act about what they’ve done or the position they are abusing and/or their hypocrisy.

Yep. Here is some background. Until 2015, Grietens was a Democrat that MO Democrats could not stand. There being no path forward in MO for him as a Dem, he promptly became a Republican,…that MO Republicans couldn’t stand. Like Trump, he was never supposed to win, but like Trump, win he did.

And as many of you probably know, Greitens has now gone all in on Trump, spending more time in DC than Jeff City. He has also gone to war with his own party which has firm majorities in both chambers. Greitens went so far as to tweet out cell phone number of the then Speaker of the MO House which for the first time, caused the Democrats in the legislature to actually feel sorry for the Speaker, who is himself an Ahole.

Greitens has made it clear to the MO GOP that this is just a short stop on his national career and in a mere 12 months time, has so alienated them, that many would be happy to see his public humiliation and his political career ruination.

But then there is the city prosecutor Kim Gardner who is widely regarded as a complete incompetent. She recently lost an indictment of a crazed stalking of a judge arrested at the courthouse with a razor or knife because she forgot to call the stalked judge as a witness. If she doesn’t have the photo – and it seems pretty clear she does not – the odds of Greitens beating this charge is very high.

Greitens has choose as his attorney Edward Dowd Jr… Dowd is a member of a famous Democratic and legal family and one of the finest and most wired attorneys in MO. Dowd was Bill Clinton’s USA for 8 years.

As long as the photo in question never sees the light of day, Greitens is looking good.

and Spitzer bothered me because it’s such a waste of money - that just shows bad judgement all around. Also, despite what I have heard from many men, most prostitutes are unhappy and would not choose that way of life. Don’t get me wrong, I thing it should be legalized and controlled, but it does show a willingness to exploit others that is not good for a public servant.

Eric Greitens is truly an idiot - he is in a free fall - & like a guy in a a falling elevator -he thinks that if he jumps up in the air at the last second he will be OK somebody needs to tell him that it does not work that way - and if he remains belligerent - he can join the ranks of other governors who have done time.

For once I am able to look across the Kansas/Missouri border and note that their Governor is more of an asshole than ours. Wouldn’t have taken much, but Greitens has crushed it!

O I agree. It is terrible judgment.
