Discussion for article #238799
Well, he sure looks happy.
You take the man at his word. That is all you can do.
"He had identified as gay for five years until a “religious experience”-- Oh, God! Oh, God! Oh, Gooooooood!
He’s bi. Jesus fuck, just admit it.
Yeah. Nothing good will come of suppressing such an important part of who you are.
Nothing.
Isn’t this private? Why are we discussing it? (Yeah, I know he mentioned it in public. But still–we have the right to look the other way. Let’s exercise that right.)
No God-fearin’, Bible-thumpin’, cross-burnin’, Limbaugh listener is gonna vote for no pansy – reformed or otherwise. Rightwingers will praise, even defend, him, but they will always suspect him.
Cheap bastard, I guess that he didn’t want to pay his ex-boyfriends the hush money…
The comments at that St. Louis Public Radio link are interesting.
Larry Craig, white courtesy phone…
Did you suit up in haz mat gear to read them?
Ha. No. There are only three comments, two from the blogger who originally broke the story and one from the author asking him to contact her directly.
I’m skeptical of Mr. Dixon’s story.
Politically expedient…
I’m Bob Dixon, and I approve this message. Please notice my cute, younger, female spouse. Please do not notice that Trent Lott and I have the same hair stylist.
Yeah, sure.
Whatever is the “truth,” this is just sad.
I think it becomes a pretty public matter when a lawmaker who staunchly supports “traditional marriage” comes out as having previously been gay and then blames the gay on sexual abuse. There’s a whole lot of wrong going on there.
Oh, snap!
Waiting for the guys down at the club to “out him” in 3…2…1…
Also, I would LOVE to get a look at his web cache.
I think he’s wrong on pushing the “traditional marriage” side, but this strikes me as different than other GOPers who have hidden in the closet before they were outed. It seems like he admitted it fairly contemporaneously as a councilman and didn’t deny it when asked years later. Even if he’s bi, it doesn’t mean that he’s sleeping around with men on his wife – anymore than gay men in committed relationships can’t remain monogomous. I have several (male) friends who dated men in younger years, but remain in committed relationships with women now. Yeah, his politics are screwed up, but he’s hardly Larry Craig.
