HUD grants (rental assistance, etc.), cooling and heating assistance, Medicare premium assistance for elders and disabled in poverty, food stamps … just to name a few safety net assistance programs that will be taking a hit. The poor will be hurting a whole lot more soon.
Notice the words “now” and “this” in his statement. Somebody needs to ask him if Trump intends to cut them in a future budget.
Note the conspicuous absence of “Medicaid” from the list of protected programs. This affects not only the poor but the elderly, who vote. It goes without saying that EPA, NSF, NOAA, and any other reality-based programs will be severely cut. Who needs science?

We will be “touching” them in the very near future. Luckily, the Congress will have the final word on these matters. Unluckily, the present majorities in the House and Senate have been giving the OSG everything he wants. Let’s see what happens now.
