Discussion: Mnuchin On Gun Violence: 'I Urge Congress To Look At These Issues'

Just count the money, Steve. That’s your job, and you have enough trouble with that.

Oh oh … someone didn’t memorize the training materials.

Repeat after me, Steve:

"They went to public school in a state where anyone can get an AR-15 thanks to the Second Amendment. They knew what they were signing up for. They knew what they were signing up for. They knew… "

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could actually believe there was any sincerity to this administrative function’s words? As far as I can tell, this is a bullshit ploy to make it sound like some republicans are aware that human beings have died and other human beings care about that. Thank you, Mr. Sociopath, for mimicking human concern.

“So do you have anything?” Lewis asked.

No John he doesn’t.

He sure the fuck does. A treasury secretary that can say shit like this: “I’m not aware of that level of detail in the budget for me to be the expert to attest on that,” Mnuchin began.

And no one bats an eye.

“Sure I’m Treasury Secretary, but I can’t be expected to actually read things that are pertinent to my position.”

The ONLY thing pertinent to his position, actually.

Steve is going to get his pee pee spanked because he did not clear his utterances with the NRA. We will hear from Steve again after he has been sufficiently chastised by “Lying” LaPierre and company.

“I urge Congress to look at these issues” … and then do nothing about them.

“I will say, personally, I think the gun violence— It’s a tragedy what we’ve seen yesterday, and I urge Congress to look at these issues,” Mnuchin said.

But these issues are not in his lane. WTF

What we have here is word salad made with some very expensive ingredients

You don’t have to actually DO anything but if you LOOK at it, voters will think you care.

Wow, strong words of overwhelming power! I’m blown away!

ATF, that is Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is within the Treasury Dept., maybe he’d have some sway over how firearms are used and by whom…

“We might have a few bucks for a couple of “See something, Say something” public service announcements, but I’ll have to check the numbers and make sure that won’t drive down gun sales.”

Yeah, but if he can’t even read the budget, even before being expected to testify about it, how can he be expected to know whatall falls under the umbrella of his department?

“What? I’s supposed to KNOW shit?!?! Aw maaaaaannnnnnn.”

Mnuchin: Do it for me.

He must keep his Treasury Dept user’s manual in the pocket on the back of the passenger seat in his car like I do which is pretty much not accessible in the case of an emergency. .

You almost got it right, but this is Mnuchin so it should be:

‘I Urge Congress To Look At These Issues’ - and cut funding to anything that might be helpful in any way.

I guess Mnuchin says something, because he never had to stand in an election ?

The rest of the guys can’t really jeopardize those NRA funds, so he was elected to take one for the team.

Scalise haven’t said anything ?

Scalise when he finally came to work after being wounded and having to use crutches said MOAR GUNZ h/t @katscherger
