Discussion: Mnuchin: More Sanctions For Iran Due To 'Provocative Space Launch'

Isn’t this guy head of the Treasury Department? When does the Treasury Dept. come out of the gate first making statements regarding foreign policy? This entire administration has its roles crossed in some unusual ways. Whatever happened to leaving these kind of things under the purview of the State Department?

Yeah. I thought “Ginning Up War with Iran” was another page in Jared “Full Metal Jackass” Kushner’s portfolio, paper-clipped to the “Middle East Peace” page.

Mnuchin’s secret identity is Trumpman. He removes his Clark Kent Glasses and changes into costume in Jared’s secret Russia back-channel communications room. IT’S A BIRD ! IT’S A PLANE. NO, IT’S A DEFLECTION. Sigh. His work is done here. Ain’t America Great?? Again??

Since sanctions are typically financial in nature, Treasury does play a role.

You’d think they weren’t the lead Department however in dealing with this matter. Diplomacy, as weak as it might be coming from this administration, is always supposed to come first. De-escalation while being firm in our resolve, should be the goal I would think. Oh, that’s right…Tillerson is on vacation and can’t be reached for comment. Too bad he doesn’t have anyone else at State that fills in when he’s gone. He’s fired or let go of everyone else.

Huh I thought other countries were involved in creating and enforcing this matter. But that can’t be right if this is a unilateral decision from the President.

Agree with all your points.

My cousin’s husband works at State. I spoke to him several weeks ago and, while I have never asked him about his work, I asked him, generally, how things were going what with all the stories swirling about this chaotic administration.

He just said he doesn’t know anything, doesn’t hear anything at work, and only knows what he reads in the media. He’s keeping his head down because he s scheduled to retire next year.
