Discussion: Mnuchin Meets With Saudi Crown Prince

So Mnuchin dropped out of the Davos in the Desert conference because it became totally toxic for international businesses, but he had a photo op with MBS anyway? And gave them another opportunity to push economic ties and potential arms deals?

Yeah, that sends the right message of strength and moral clarity.

Of course he met with the Crown Prince. This administration has no plans at all to hold SA and MSB accountable.

We will remember Jamal Khashoggi and hopefully SA will be held to account at some point, even if the Trump admin has no plans to.

But then there’s this:

That’s why I believe that the BS “fist-fight” story is something designed to rub Trump’s face on it and show him who is the boss. They can do whatever they want, say whatever they want, Trump is going to do nothing. They got Trump and Kushner by the cojones with business deals and bribes, would not be surprised if they even have a video of a camel pissing on Trump.

I was going to ask why the Treasury Secretary was meeting with him as opposed to the Secretary of State or some such, but that’s right. Davos in the Desert.

“I’m here to collect the president’s bribe,” he said through clenched teeth. “And throw in a little for Jared.”

I don’t see how Saudi Arabia gets out of this without canning MBS at the end. It’s not like there aren’t a million other Princes in the Kingdom.

Those were my thoughts at the beginning. But the way things have been developing, Trump praising the Crown Prince for “being in control”, the secretaries of State and of Treasure smiling next to him after paying their respects (how many Saudi ministers have gone to Washington or Ankara to smooth things over? ), means that MbS’ victory is complete. Any Saudi prince that so much farts with out his permission will be reminded that he can be killed anywhere, anytime without any repercussions.

Mnuchin’s body language says he barely knows this man, and is ready to run if a fist fight breaks out.

Yup, bag man for the Trump, he only goes where he thinks some money might fall his way, Fort Knox, Moscow, Riyad. He would be winging his way to North Korea, but they don’t got no cash…

“You’ll be chopped up into 15 pieces this size if you don’t go through with the arms sale.”

I don’t know any other way to read this. Mnuchin pulls out of the conference (positive), then shows up for smiling photo ops. WTF? Guess that $100M wasn’t enough.

(Actually, It looks like Mnuchin fears for his fingers and head.)

As well he should. Those 15 guys who whacked Khashoggi are back in Riyadh by now.

Yeh, but where are they going to get a decoy body-double for Mnuchin? Plus no self respecting Saudi would be caught dead in those stupid looking glasses he wears.

“Your Majesty. I love money. I love buckets and buckets of money. I love serving my president, and your Royal Person.”
" I too love barrels and barrels of money. I serve no one but myself. It is good to have things in common so we can move forward to important things."
“Your Majesty, you are wise and wealthy beyond your years.”
" You have had much practice talking to powerful men, I see."

Well it sent the intended message…

“Sorry we had to pretend to have a problem with your murdering of journalists, truth is we’re jealous”
