Discussion: Mixed Reaction Awaits Trump At Synagogue Scarred By Violence

The only things you can know for certain are that Trump is doing this only for purely selfish reasons, and that said selfishness will be despicably obvious.

You think Trump is ugly now, see what he’s like after not getting adulation for showing up uninvited and trying to use their mourning as a campaign appearance.

I trust Donald will screw this up as usual, ETTD

Trump said late Monday he was looking forward to the visit.
Which is a typical reaction when going to a mass murder site and a city trying to bury it’s victims
A real Laff Riot
Amirite Donnie?

He’s already screwed it up.

I’d like to believe Trump will commit some monumentally blunderous faux pas during whatever remarks he gives. Another 24 hour news cycle consumed with angst over his idiocy is one less day GOPers are focused on the midterms.
However, I’ll wager the White House keeps him in his lane and he gets through it relatively unscathed.

My belief:
Trump does not care if he is welcome but he is president and he will do whatever he wants.
He likes the violence as long as he is protected.
He talks like a man he can never be.
He will fake caring about the murder of the unarmed if you kiss his ass.

Let’s hope he isn’t wearing roller skates and carrying a boombox on his shoulder.

Quite telling that Trump frames the visit, inevitably since he can’t do anything else, in terms of ‘I’: “Well, I’m just going to pay my respects. I’m also going to the hospital to see the officers and some of the people that were so badly hurt.”

Compare that to the office WH statement with a more collective tone: the purpose of Trump’s visit was to “express the support of the American people and to grieve with the Pittsburgh community.”

No matter how much his handlers try, Trump simply cannot conceive of the world in terms of ‘we.’ Only ‘I.’

You just know he’s going to say something.

Lena Epstein, the Republican MI Congressional candidate who co-hosted the Jews for Jesus fake rabbi, has been a proud Trumper since the beginning:

“I was in the Trump camp from the very beginning because he represents a change from the status quo; an outsider with real business experience and success who is frank and honest with the American people,” said Epstein. “I am excited to recruit fellow millenials, the Jewish community and the women of Michigan to demonstrate that their futures and economic prosperity lie with Trump and the GOP.”

Yep, so much prosperity for American Jews. Obviously, when the Tiki Torch crowd at Charlottesville was chanting “Jews will not replace us!” they intended a special exemption for good Jews like Lena Epstein and her family.

Maybe he will toss a box of bandaids to the mourners. I hate him more every day.

OMG. This is so disgusting.

The people of this synagogue & community should feel ok doing whatever it is that they feel they need to.

  1. If they want to stay away, or take care of the wounded, or attend a funeral or be around their loved ones, that is fine.
  2. If they want to show up and give the president a warm greeting, great.
  3. If they want to show up and confront the president, that is also fine.
Right now, they need to take care of themselves, in whatever form that takes. The trauma and loss from this event is devastating and likely long lasting. People deal w/ traumatic events in different ways. Each person needs to do what his right for his or her healing.

I hope that this visit turns out better than I expect it to.

Yep! Heavily medicated and reading from a script. Watch for slurred speech, a completely unmodulated speaking pattern and a lack of ad libs.

did someone really type this sentence, and the editor let it through?

and questions about his credibility as unifier

there are no questions about his “unifier” credentials, he does not have even a fraction of one.

this asshole is the anti-unifier

He’s not expressing anything on my behalf. Not. My. President.

Dvir, 52, the owner of Murray Avenue Locksmith in Squirrel Hill, said of Trump, “I think he made some mistakes, but he is a great president.”

Bet Hannukah is gonna be awkward at his place.
