So, Romney had literal binders full of women’s resumes. Just to be pedantic, calling them “binders full of women” is an example of synecdoche, which according to Wikipedia is a type of metonymy, but if you can use a part of a concept to describe the whole concept, I guess that would make “metonymy” and “synecdoche” interchangeable, which is great because I always get them confused anyway.
Oh, to me they mean the same thing. Another synonym is “monolithical”.
I think.
The difference between Mitt Romney and the current so-called President is that Romney meant a book of resumes. If the Current Occupant said that he had “binders full of women,” he’d mean that he literally has binders full of women.
Or women fully in binders.
True story, Mitt Romney once caught Bill O’Reilly perusing those binders in a frankly disgusting way.

This kind of thing reminds me of back in law school, when in my Civil Rights class, a fellow student (White, male, straight, able-bodied) insisted that it satisfied anti-discrimination laws if an employer or school accepted the resume or application and put it in a pile somewhere, even if they had no intention of fairly considering the applicant on an equal footing with others. To him, it was enough to go through the motions, and that was “equal access.”
Kind of like the Rs now think that the existence of health insurance policies, regardless of cost, limitations, and exclusions equals “access to healthcare.”
So when is a tweet boasting of more binders full of women coming from Comrade Chaos? 
Mitt would have read the binders, Trump would have been told about them via a flash card or a brief, original song by Elmo.

Yeah, and naturally you also have to wonder… if Romney has binders full of women, could that also mean he has binders full of blacks, binders full of Hispanics, etc.? If that kind of id-based classification is not the idea behind this “binders full of women” thing, what is it?
Yeah, sorry. It wasn’t just patronizing at the time. It still is. Because of the fact that the upper echelons of his campaign were almost all rich white guys.
They both had binders full of women. Trump’s version had prices listed.
And what’s worse, it was just one more instance of not paying your contractors. Or several more instances.
