Discussion: Missouri Gov. Nixon 'Not Happy' Police Released Robbery Video

Discussion for article #226523

He means ā€œcast aspersions.ā€

Presumably, the goal of the curfew was to cast dispersions.

Exactly!

I noticed that too, and would have bemoaned the decline of the English language, EXCEPT that this is the kind of ā€œspell checkā€ change you donā€™t catch when writing quickly.

And yet Police Chief Jackson is still there in his chiefly capacity. Now would be a good time for him to be fired or retired. He really needs to be gone.

P.S. The Guv refers to ā€œCaptain Jacksonā€ when it is Captain Ron Johnson. The Police Chief is Tom Jackson.

Perhaps the governor could cast one of his dispersions in the direction of the Ferguson Police Chief.

I almost have to wonder if he released it out of spite to make the work of Captain Jackson fail. It is time for him to go.

So, the Governor gets it, The Highway Patrol Chief gets it, when does the Police Chief get it?

And, if he doesnā€™t, when does he get fired and brought up on charges?

This is getting old: itā€™s Captain Ron JOHNSON, the Police Chief is Tom JACKSON. I know their names are rather similar, and it is unfortunate that the Police Chief was not named Tom Luxury-Yacht, but there it is.

Whatā€™s wrong with the truthā€¦

The Ferguson goon squad released the video to afford the pigs with badges another opportunity to beat the hippies and ā€˜Nā€™ lovers one more time. Or two. Or three.

The best article Iā€™ve read on the ignorance and gross incompetence of Fergusonā€™s police chief was on Alternet. After reading it, no comment was necessary because the writer hit every major point.

Thereā€™s nothing wrong with the truth, which is why that autopsy report should have been released days ago; tout de suite!

Very nice. I especially enjoyed the ending:

Police Chief Thomas Jackson, you have got to be the STUPIDEST MORON on the face of the planet. To call you ā€œstupidā€ is in fact an insult to stupid people. I hold you 100% responsible for every bit of this national tragedy.

YOU allowed a culture that has consistently dehumanized and discriminated against African Americans and, by so doing, YOU laid the groundwork for the murder of Michael Brown.

YOUR officers referred to a traumatized community as ā€œfucking animalsā€ on international TV.

YOU shielded a man who killed a fleeing teenager, at the expense of an entire community.

YOU have consistently demonstrated that you will go to almost any length to protect one of your own.

YOU have praised a killer and smeared a teenager whose biggest crime in life was possibly stealing a pack of cigarettes.

YOU threw the law out the window and declared war on the very people you are paid to serve and protect.

YOU have demonstrated that you are prepared to lie in order to protect a killer.

YOU are an asshole who should not be in any position of authority. You donā€™t have the sense or integrity to do the job required.

So many ways for you to have handled this tragedy and you, without fail, have consistently chosen the worst option.

This entire fiasco is like watching a modern day version of In the Heat of the Night. It is tragic and disgusting and infuriating.

Michael Brown was obviously no saint, and Iā€™m glad that heā€™s been eliminated from society before he became a bigger threat.

With that said, I wish his elimination had occurred differently.

After watching the video of him manhandling that store clerk I have no doubt he did something sinister to the police officer. This from someone who dislike, to the core, police officers.

And Iā€™m not going to believe the eyewitnesses account of what happened. I most certainly wont believe Brownā€™s friends.

You are glad a young man was murdered??? FUCK YOU!!

The common denominator of this issue is lack of education. On both sides.

Iā€™d bet my last lottery $ that reading is a low priority on both sides. Exposure to ideas.

What books are being read? What periodicals? How are their ā€œinsightsā€ being expanded?

No critical thinking on either side. Itā€™s a microcosm of society as a whole. No exposure to ideas. A failure of our education system.

Now, is the exposure to books and ideas a panacea for all the problems in America? Of course not.

But when the grey matter under the hood has atrophied because itā€™s not being used, broad thinking certainly isnā€™t the activity of choice.

Well it certainly looks like the police chief achieved his objective in releasing the video - he has much of the net believing that it was OK to gun the kid down because being black means he must have been guilty.

There are lots of people making claims about the video but so far I have not seen one sourced comment giving any evidence that Brown was in the video. The video itself shows absolutely nothing. It is barely possible to see what clothes the guy is wearing and anyone saying they recognize his face from it is a liar.

Faced with a gap in the evidence the racists of Fox News, Breitbart etc. are always ready to fill in with some lies. Given the situation I think it not very likely that anyone in a position to know would have confirmed that Brown was in the video. And if they had I think it is certain that the news media would have covered it thoroughly.

Even if it was Brown in the video, the cop who murdered him for jaywalking did not know he was a suspect.

Seems to me that it is about time that the Governor makes a public request to the town to relieve the police chief of all his duties immediately.

how old is that tape anyway?

I generally do not comment on peopleā€™s comments to my posts but today Iā€™ll make an exception.

YES, Iā€™m glad heā€™s dead!!! His behavior gives a clear view of what he was to become.

And DONā€™T tell me he could have turned his life around.

So, a big fan of ā€œdue processā€ are you?
