The fact that they didn’t understand why this would end up being seen as a pathetically stupid stunt right off the bat, and even at a subconscious level, speaks volumes. It’s a trivial issue, but it’s part of a larger problem within the GOP. They just, don’t, fucking, get it. You have to be a brain dead moron to not see how and why this would eventually backfire. But, here we are!
