Discussion for article #225071

See?!? These weren’t real votes! They came from Democrat party members! From “blah” people! Theft! Fraud! Argle-bargle!

Now multiply those votes times 3/5’s because they’re only black voters and see…McD wins after all. And then I remember, this is Mississippi and it all makes sense again.

Who knew that black folks could vote in Mississippi. I thought the Republicans had changed those laws.

OBVIOUSLY this is a CLEAR CASE of ‘LECTION FRAURD, as evidenced by ALL OF THOSE ILLEGAL NICLANGS VOTIN’ FER COCHRAN as if their votes COUNTED like REAL WHITE GOD-FEARIN’ TEA PARTY PEOPLE.

CLEAR AS DAY, my fellow SOVEREIGN SOUTHERN BRETHREN, that THIS is nothing more than an ATTEMPT by that CARPETBAGGING NORTHERN UNION SCUMBAG, the NICLANG-LOVIN’ THAD COCHRAN, to STEAL the RACIALLY PURE 'MURICAN ELECTION from the REAL PEOPLES OF MISSISSIPPI.

Signed,
Jefferson Beauregard Jackson Nathan Bedford Stonewall McDaniel

Nope. Not gonna happen.

This was a one-time arrangement - Democrats didn’t want McRacist and neither did Cochran.

You know what is sad? Those GOP voters in Mississippi, if they were to read your post and see the 3/5 th reference, would probably have absolutely not a clue what the reference is.This even if they were waving a copy of it in their white hands.

Underlying all of this analysis is the idea that it is simply an outrage for BLACK people to influence Mississippi’s power structure. So, McDaniel might as well admit that “illegal voting” is just as much of a code for the “n” word as Lee Atwater acknowledged three decades ago for welfare and law and order.

Wasn’t the whole point of creating an open primary system to get Democratic voters to cross party lines? And guess what? It worked!

Hahaha! Yah think?

Doh!

Now let’s turn them out for Childers instead. This Cochran is evidently an ingrate.

… black people voted for the least openly racist candidate … shocking! Obviously illegal. The GOP solution, of course, isn’t to become less racist, but to find a way not to count those votes.

Genius.

However you interpret the data … cross-over voting is perfectly legal in Mississippi.

Dems are allowed to vote in GOP primaries in Mississippi and vice versa. THIS IS A FEATURE, NOT A BUG.

The historical reason is pretty well known in Mississippi:
Historically the GOP would crash the gate of the Dem primaries to support the MOST RACIST candidate. Over time this ensured that the only way for a Dem to win the nomination was to be openly racist during the primary, which had the added benefit or also disappointing and thus suppressing the black vote during the election (thus re-enforcing the cycle the next time around). This ensured that both the Dem and GOP on the ballot candidate were openly racist during the election.

The surprise here is that blacks actually used the same process (perfectly legal cross-over voting) to ensure that the LEAST racist candidate won the primary. GOP can’t allow that to continue anymore …

And if they were voters who voted in the Dem Primary (and so are ineligible), “HOW DID THAT HAPPEN??”

You’d think the party obsessed with voter fraud would have made sure that only people who could vote…well, COULD vote.

We didn’t already know that Cochran’s win was due to African-American votes?

Since the runoff McDaniel and his supporters have complained that McDaniel actually won the Republican vote in the runoff and Cochran was only the winner through getting African Americans and Democrats to vote for him.

So? It was an open primary, folks. Open primary means any registered voter can vote in it, except in this case, since it was a runoff, you couldn’t vote if you had already participated in the Democratic primary, because you can only vote in one party’s primary.

Funny how Republicans didn’t think it was so outrageous to encourage Republicans to vote in the Democratic presidential primaries in 2008.
